Default Intake and Air Filter together?

I'm looking to buy a cold air intake for my RS and I was wondering if I should invest in a K&N air filter if I'm getting a CAI. I'm not sure if the air filter is necessary or not with a CAI so I guess that's my question. Thanks.

well, what kind of CAI are you thinking of buying? I think some intakes come w/ some kind of performance filter as a package.

I was thinking of an Injen CAI. I know they come with a K&N air filter on them, but I didn't know if the stock air filter stayed on or not.
