Default 1995 Legacy Clutch Spring

1995 Legacy 5 speed:

Just noticed that the clutch felt a but weird when releasing it. The coil spring that looks like it is meant to assist in the releasing of the clutch motion has broken.

The clutch feels fine w/ out it right now, it is not sticking to floor and seems to maintain its feel when engaging to drive.

What is the actual purpose of this spring? Can it last a few days or a week while i wait for a new one?

Thanks!
