Sport Premium adds over Premium:
Fog lights
Silver painted front grill
Sport cloth upholstery (leather on Limited)
Roof rails (cross bars optional)
Body colored rocker panels
17" alloy wheels with 205/50R 17 all season tires
All Weather Package

Sport Limited adds over Limited:
The painted grille, roof rails and rocker panels.
Hope there's not a big price difference for the Sport Limited trim over the regular Limited trim.

Other items worth noting:
All Limited models to come with upgraded instrument panel, perhaps electroluminescent (or perhaps the black color from the Canadian photos?).
All models have new driver's knee airbag and tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
14.6 US gallon fuel tank (was 16.9).
Rear stabilizer bar not available on 2.0i, standard on Premium & Limited.
Weight of 2.5i w/manual = 2991 lbs
New roof supports hold 4x vehicle weight

cars101 says: "The car is the same overall length but has been redesigned with considerably more interior room.
Because the wheelbase has been increased 0.9" and the the windshield more angled ('A' pillars moved 7.9" forward), all the doors are larger. The front doors are 5" larger.
Visibility and seating positions improved- The top of the doors is now 2.4" lower than previous models, the front seats raised .67", rear seat .79", and the new dashboard is flatter. The result is that you sit higher which is both more comfortable and allows great visibility. The front door sill stepover has been lowered by 0.8".
Rear seat legroom is almost 2" more than previous Imprezas"

I don't get it, why did they use the term "Sport" for this model?

"Sport" sounds cooler. They don't want to end up with this-

'Cause it used to be Outback Sport, and they dropped "Outback" to eliminate existing confusion with selling two different Outback models.

Don't wait! Go make an order now!! Get it exactly the way you want it. They are going to throw all kinds of accessories on them since they are new. Plus, they I think they will be hard to come by for at least the first month.

Default 2.0i Premium 5-Door

Hi all,

I am new to he forum and have been checking out this thread on the 2012 model. I have a qestion concerning trim options. According to Gary P's spreadsheet it doesn't look like I will be able to get a moonroof/nav system with cloth seats. Maybe I am reading this wrong? In any case, I am not a huge fan of leather. I am looking only at the 5-door model.

Thanks!

Looks like you can get the 5DR premium with moonroof/nav and "tricot" interior (IT/BT in the chart), which I'm guessing is the WRX mesh. I could be wrong though.

I think it might be this

That pic is the "striped cloth" from the 5 door Sport Premium.

"Tricot" is the WRX-style mesh

Initially I was disappointed that I couldn't get a Sport model with a moonroof but I'm not in love with the two-tone paint so a 5-sp Premium will be great! I am a little disappointed to miss out of the darker wheels though and hopefully SOA doesn't charge "an arm and a leg" for side skirts and the wing spoiler. (as accessories)

Since I can't get Nav with a 5-sp from the factory, do you think dealers will be able to install the factory Nav system for a reasonable price? In the past I would have assumed that swapping the headunits wouldn't be difficult but it seems like these new Nav systems are integrated with the whole car so now I have no idea if it is even reasonably possible.

It seems like the non-nav upgraded audio is just a pioneer aftermarket system, so I would imagine any Pioneer system would be easy to install and integrate well with the controls. I have an older AVIC headunit and I love it. Obviously nobody has tested it on the new Impreza yet, so YMMV.

the headunit I'm referring to is barely visible in this shot (canadian):

Thanks Spacewilly! It's kind of a minor detail but does anyone know if the chrome grill is limited to the sedan? If you haven't noticed, the grill can either be painted flat silver or chrome and I can't tell if it is based on the number of doors (sedan vs hatch) or trim level (base/premium/limited).

Sorry, had to covert the .pdf to .jpg for hosting which resulted in loss of resolution. PM me your email addy if you really can't read the page and I'll send you the original document.

No it shows the same wheel gap as the other Imprezas. The OBS never really had a raised suspension either. Now the XV model that we may get is obviously raised suspension over the other 2012 Imprezas. I hope the bring it.

1. Only 3 of the 9 color schemes for the sport are two tone.

2. Even if the nav upgrade is simply a matter of swapping the head-unit (which it probably isn't....there's got to be a GPS antenna somewhere), it still would likely cost a fortune. Basic factory head units are god-awful expensive. Nav units are expensive enough to make a defense contractor blush.

The tomtom antenna is built in. With an in-dash system you need to place the antenna somewhere that has a view of the sky (some plastic in the way is ok, but no metal). With an aftermarket system you can usually just hide it somewhere under the dash. Mine is under the clock pod. Afrermarket nav or a standalone tomtom unit is definitely a better deal than OEM nav. You might not be able to set your climate control with it but everything else works the same, if not better, than the OEM unit.
