Neither of those is recessed in the dash, encased on 4 sides by steel brackets, and surrounded with radio-frequency-interference generating items like HVAC blowers, bulk wiring harnesses, relays, and electronic control units for various vehicle systems.

Dang! They raised Alaska Delivery another $50!

Thanks for the info, Gary! You rock! This should really have it's own thread if you can find time to do it.

I did it for the 2011's last year.

Thought about it, but wasn't sure what the etiquette here was. Seems all 2012 info has been condensed into this one thread. Mods, if you think this should be divested into a separate thread feel free.

I know Impreza will have options of: 15, 16 or 17in rims.
Can anybody educate me what are the advantages of going with 17in wheels over 15in?
Everybody talks about lower rolling resistance. I think they are talking about resistance during cornering, isn't it? As in straight line there shouldn't be much difference.

Disadvantage of larger rim is less rubber cushion between rims and road, so in places with big pot holes there are more chances for rim damage :-/
Not to mention lower profile tires are more expensive.

Isn't larger rims/lower profile tires more of a fashion than practicality?

I think you might need to provide a more official source... When I did it I linked a website article.

I can't link to an internal Subaru site. I suspect these will be publicly posted somewhere soon. Mabye even tomorrow. Until then, you gotta trust me. I think I've earned it on this subject.

Thanks Gary, great info. Any word on Canadian pricing? (I suspect we will still get ripped off paying 4.4k more for a base Impreza, but I'm hoping...)

That is still much better than Outback rip off 5-7K :-/
Solution is to make a trip south, even with 6% tax we will be ahead.

Is there a place to figure out what the all weather package means? What about what the premium and limited (besides CVT) provide over the base? Assume similar to the 2011?

All weather package is basically heated seats, heated aide mirrors and windshield wiper defrosters. I don't know if they changed for 2012 but guessing from my 2010 it should be something similar

Oh, I trust you. I'm just not sure about the rules. Hmmm... You know what, I'll take one for the team on this.

Awesome, thanks. So is the sport just appearance package upgrade?

Should be. Spoiler, some type of bodykit or lip spoiler too. That is again just my guess.

I posted this a bit earlier in the thread. Sport adds the features listed in the quote below. Fog lights, alloys & all-weather package are already part of the Limited trim, so adding Sport to a Limited is less of an upgrade than adding Sport to a Premium.

All Weather Package

Sport Limited adds over Limited:
The painted grille, roof rails and rocker panels.
Hope there's not a big price difference for the Sport Limited trim over the regular Limited trim.

Am I the only one who likes the 08-11 butt and the gauge cluster more than the 12+ one? .

Raised suspension? It will be a matter of months before unnamed NASIOC vendors cut a 1" spacer to fit above the struts Though I'd love to see the XV
here.

As for Canadian models... we get ripped off thanks to offer and demand. Especially here in Quebec there has been a shortage of Imprezas for a while, they get sold with no issues whatsoever.... grr. NO incentive for SOC to lower their prices

If by butt you mean the rear? Then probably I hate the rear of my 2.5i. If I had the money I'd buy the rear bumper and the spoiler for a WRX and install it.

Tell me about it, prices on new Subaru cars are just crazy because of this, I'm in Rivière-du-Loup, Québec.

I know some disagree, but I think it's a nice-looking car.

I got the 07 2.5i not a WRX but it still excited me seeing the WRX going through rally cross because they were related. Now that there's nothing in common with them it feels like if I get the 2012 that I will just be getting a Sedan with awd instead of a awd sedan lol..

Don't take this too serious and get defensive because I know some people will, it's just how I feel thats all.
In my opinion, it's mainly just the badge. Just as the 2010+ Outback isn't "Legacy Outback" anymore, this will just be "WRX" or "WRX STi" instead of "Impreza WRX" or "Impreza WRX STi".

It'll still be about the same as before, an Impreza with beefier bits. Just without an Impreza badge. A little nostalgically sad I suppose, but I don't think it's too much to fret over.

I'm sorry but was it already mentioned somewhere in this thread the difference between limited and premium?

I know the base is crap so I may go ahead and aim for the Premium with all the options which will cost me around $10K even with a trade in. Maybe I should try to get a barely used model a bit later, hm.

Anyway pretty nice pricing they stay true to the original pricing of the Impreza unlike the doom and gloom some of the other members were trying to spread, trying to get people to think it would be MUCH higher. Once again with AWD these are very competitive prices.

And that is MSRP, too right? We all know they'll be selling at $200-300 over invoice.
