Besides the obvious "NAV" capability, does getting the NAV offer you any addtional features? I read something about SMS/DVD/Facebook/Twitter capabilities (maybe it's Canada only) just wondering if getting the NAV offers any other "features" over the base limited stereo.
If it's helpful, here's what I've got on the NAV:
6.1" touch screen LCD Navigation/GPS, voice activated controls, AM/FM/ plus HD radio, single disc CD, 6 speaker, MP3, USB port, Aux input 3.5mm, SMS messaging capability, hands-free Bluetooth, Wireless audio streaming, iPod capable with iTunes tagging, XM Satellite radio with XM NavTraffic (subscription req), roof antenna

And on the 4.3" HD stereo:
4.3" LCD display screen that you can personalize with an image, AM/FM, HD radio, single disc CD, MP3, Radio Data Broadcast System (RDBS), 6 speakers, Bluetooth hands free cell phone with steering wheel controls, Wireless audio streaming, USB and 3.5mm aux jack, iPod capable, roof antenna

I looks to me (again, noob here) that the 2012 5 door sport premium and sport limiteds have traditional roof rails, that are fixed in place, and you by the OEM cross bars. It also looks like the sport trim gets the gun-metal rims????
Many pics here showing the 2011 with the roof rack installed and not installed. This is the same style of rack on the 2012 non-Sport models. Looks pretty flush to me, but there's no closeup of the actual attachment point:
http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/impreza2011.html

Everything I've seen on the alloy wheels does indicate gunmetal is only on the Sport models.

I'd really like to see the Kicker sub as an available option for the 2012 sedan. My wife's '07 Impreza SE has the powered under-seat sub and it's performance is questionable.

Particularly as it's a dealer-installed option. This requires removing the driver's seat, scratching the face of the audio deck, replacing the audio deck, scarring the glove compartment cover, replacing the cover, then not reconnecting the aux input to the replacement audio deck.

Train wreck, but I digress. The trunk-mount sub is the way to go!

Why would you not just get one installed at a normal car audio place?

Active Torque Split CVT

I know that CVT utilizing "Active Torque Split" but can not find much information how it works especially with CVT.

There is that famous video on the youtube "Subaru AWD vs. competitors" but it makes me wonder if CVT model with Active Torque Split would be able to repeat this test.

It was on the options sheet we checked off. Had we known the dealer would be installing, would have gone to the specialist.

All 2008-2011 Imprezas come with the mounting points in the roof for the crossbars. I have a set on my wife's 2008 sedan exactly the same as those which come standard on the Outback Sport. The roof line is flush when they are off. The bars are held in place by a single bolt at each end that goes into a threaded hole in the roof. When the rack is not in place, that hole is covered by a small plastic "flap" which is nearly invisible since it is in the gutter line. That is the same type of cross bar that is optional on all the 2012 Imprezas except the Sport. The 2012 Sport has traditional hard-mounted rails front-to-rear with optional cross bars.

What color are you considering? Some 2012 Sports come two-tone, some are monotone.

4.3" LCD display screen that you can personalize with an image, AM/FM, HD radio, single disc CD, MP3, Radio Data Broadcast System (RDBS), 6 speakers, Bluetooth hands free cell phone with steering wheel controls, Wireless audio streaming, USB and 3.5mm aux jack, iPod capable, roof antenna
The 4.3" LCD is the same unit that is currently in the 2011 Forester Touring models if you want more info on it.

I tried googling more on the display, but couldn't find any reviews. Any one else have any luck?

I'm getting excited about the XV / Outback version which will be shown in 2 weeks in Frankfurt (production model... not concept)

You should read this thread (it's only 50 posts). A guy installed the 2011 Forester Touring 4.3" LCD in his 2011 WRX and reviews it and answers questions.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2166861

I realized for the effort he put in I could get a MUCH better aftermarket stereo, but it's cool regardless.

I hope this helps a bit. You can always PM him and ask for more pics or specific questions.

Thank you! Looking forward to this in my CLL. Wish more manufacturers would allow Android phone tethering, in addition to the iPod integration.

First, thanks for the responses (gary/keepcalm/et al)

I'm going with the MBP for sure. Guessing that would be monotone?

Anyone know if the 2012 Impreza will have an OFF button for Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC)?

Not to be the grammar police but I am pretty sure you meant "monochromatic" as "monotone" means sameness in sound not color. I see people make this mistake all the time.

With used car prices as they are right now, I might end up getting one of these instead of a 1 or 2 year old Subaru.

Here some are VERY hi res versions of the typical photos we've all seen that let you look at things like the gauge cluster in more detail:

Used subarus in my area are expensive and not in the colors I want. At that point, I might as well spend the money on exactly the car I want and can afford.

Should "two-tone" be "bichromatic" then?

I'll chime in as the science police: Colors each have their own frequency, as does sound, so light can still be considered to have "tone."

I am considering getting 2012 Impreza in wagon configuration.
While I am not looking for WRX-like performance, I'd like/hope it is not sluggish as well, i.e. can keep up with the occasional Corolla at the light :-)
From the information published, Subaru's figures quote 9.8 sec 0-60. This sounds rather slow. Is this really what's to be expected?
