I have a set of 18in silver OZ ultraleggaras to throw on my hatch. I also have a set of 04 gold STI BBS, I'm trying to decide which will look better on there! I ordered a red one with the optional spoiler, I'm also thinking about getting the sport grill with my incentive money.

not sure about gold and red, but silver and red or even gunmetal and red would look really nice. maybe get one of the sets power coated?

Passing gas, Are you a member of a partner group to receive VIP pricing or did you negotiate with the dealer to match the VIP pricing?

Thanks

Here you go sir. Not a great result, white is a difficult tone to achieve when starting from a dark photo because the JPG compression artifacts hide themselves in shadowed areas. Anyway, at least it gives you an idea.

It was probably included. The final price on the bottom right of the window sticker is what they are discounting off of. It is the advertising price that I complain about. The customer sees something online or on T.V. and then comes in and complains about the different price. Yeah, there is that small print in the ad, but still.

I'm sorry! I wasn't trying to convey anger. I was aiming for just excitement. My bad!

Default lst year model risks

it just occurred to me after I ordered my 2012 impreza sport premium that I am breaking a cardinal rule of automobile ownership..."never buy a 1st year model". Is Subaru's quality control and research and development good enough to eliminate problems before the vechile goes to production or are us early adopters the Beta testers? Just a thought. Tim

You've got a point there. Let's hope they didn't muck this one like the '08 WRX. Try to think of it as pioneering the redesign, and pray for no major recalls.

Speaking of which, how is Subaru on recalls? Can I rest assured that Subaru will practice due diligence in thouroughly resolving an issue?
I ask cause my Element was in he "soft brake" recall. Honda never fixed the poor braking, just the pedal feel. Maybe it's brakes just suck...

Hows Subaru's paint jobs? I understand some companies skimp on a good clearcoat resulting in premature fading, peeling, etc. Any insight?

Sport mesh front grill ($327 MSRP) available as a standalone option on any trim level = no wings.

I dropped my 2011 WRX off for service today and got a 2011 Legacy 2.5i Premium as a loaner. I REALLY like the option of auto CVT and shiftable CVT. Sure, it's not the same as the WRX. But if you're looking for a driving experience that can either be relaxing (auto) or somewhat entertaining (paddle shifters), the CVT really does a good job filling both roles.

Because of this, I will be test driving a 2012 Impreza with CVT when they're available.

As they say, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. And I have really enjoyed playing around with the CVT. Surprisingly so!

Plus, the more I look at the 2012 Impreza, the more I like the looks.

If the interior is truly quiet, comfortable, and noticeably more roomy, it may get a serious consideration from me as a way to be more financially efficient in life.

P.S. There is some really outstanding information in this thread, and I really appreciate everyone fueling the discussions!

Our 2008 Impreza was solid reliable. It was a first month out car, and we put 42K miles on it, never had one problem.

As for paint, please be aware that almost all manufacturers have crappy paint these days. The EPA outlawed the good stuff about a decade ago. I have a 1997 Maxima (among many other older cars previously) and we have owned new Toyota's, 2 new Subaru's and I have a 2007 Titan. The Toyota's and Suabru's spent their lease life with us, and we've owned the Maxima way before these other cars. Within a year, the paint on all of these cars was in worse condition than our old Maxima. It seems to take a boulder to knock paint of the Maxima. On the other cars, they had bad road rash, rusty chips and such all over any part that could possibly be hit by road debris. After 2-3 years, when those cars left us, the paint on them was in far worse condition than our old Maxima.

Anyways, the EPA restricted the solvents, and modern paints are primarily water based. Every car suffers from crappy paint now.

One thing that should help ease your mind. The FB20 already has a year under it's belt in the Japanese Forester.

Somehow I don't think this dork ever drove a normally aspirated version of the last Impreza. The version with the manual might be fractionally slower. In every other way, it is much sportier.

^ agreed. "sportier" is also about a subjective feeling, and no matter the physical acceleration, a constant RPM/varying speed gearbox will not have the feeling of a stickshift.

How are the 0-60s measured with the MT though? Redline and a clutch-burning launch, or something more "reasonable"?

Question What can we do about the paint?

If this is the case, what reasonable things can we do outside of the items below to protect/maintain the paint on these new cars?

Clear Bra (all possible locations)
Mudflaps (Rally Armor or the like)
Consistent washing (~Monthly) and waxing (~2x/year)
