My parents have a 2011 Outback & there's a USB plug & an AV input but they don't charge it while connected for music.

Are your's the 43D (205x50R17 Tires)? I think I know where you are coming from. I used to buy 4 tires for $125 for my (now totaled) T-Bird (They were snow tires and I drove less than 5K per year). They were OK; however, would not win any performance or wear awards. There is a Huge difference in Dry, Wet, and Snow performance for tires - and wear (in all conditions). The Yoko's might feel fine at first; however, let us know when you have between 12/14k on them in any type of weather - If there is any tread left.

As far as the Falken tires - It depends on which ones that you have. Even their "plain Jane" tires are better than the Yoko's. They really are horrible for an STI, IMHO (I don't have an STI - but have read the reviews). Low road noise? Would that be a somewhat LOUD Road Roar? Just Asking..

There is no dedicated "pause" button, however if you turn the stereo off, it pauses the music on my phone. When I turn the power back on, it resumes play automatically.

Our '11 OB charges the phone while plugged into the USB.

I have the 16" tires that come with the Premium.

With regards to road noise, I cannot hear ANYTHING! Seriously I can hear the wind noise, but nothing coming from the tires at all.

I had the Falken Ziez-512's on my old STi. I couldn't get the car stuck, even on snowy hills. They only lasted about 35k miles, but they provided good all year around performance.

I would take the reviews with a grain of salt. They are written by owners of different cars. For now I feel these tires are fine, I'll keep them unless I find a reason to.

Just tested this out with my iPod Touch.

When the iPod isn't being used for input, the USB is turned off and the iPod doesn't charge. When you select the iPod interface, it plays the music AND charges.

This is why I've been so antsy to get my Impreza:

Later, after wearing out the snowblower:

The early winter has been unusually mild so far, with only one significant snowfall at the end of October. I loved that old Outback Sport. It got me through a dozen winters. I had serious separation anxiety when I sold it in June.

I called the SOA hotline this afternoon and I got an ETA of 12/20. The customer service agent told me to give a 5-7 day allowance 'cause the shipping/transport is subcontracted and is beyond their control. I'm pretty sure they want to get it to us as much as we do. Here's to hoping it comes before Christmas. I ordered it 10/12 and received only the gift email. I just glad the deliveries are starting to come in.

Canadian 5-door models are not available with full roof rails. Just the fixed, snap-on roof rack that looks ridiculous. What a deal breaker!

This morning, I had anxiety that I got the wrong color car. Marine blue pearl is the dark blue they keep showing in ads right?
Has anyone gotten an ETA in the west (California, Oregon, Washington, Utah)? Are the cars still coming out of the Vancouver port?

A good to place to preview and pick out what accessories you would like with your Gift Certificate can be found at this dealer's Ebay Store: http://stores.ebay.com/HERITAGE-VOLK...id=p4340.l2563.

From the pictures, I saw that Subaru is selling the Railgrab if I want to re-use my Yakima round bars from my 00 Legacy. So, now I know what to buy from Amazon for $132. I'll just choose the gifts from Subaru that aren't as heavily discounted in the open marketplace. I can't wait for the Impreza to arrive. I'm still waiting for Weathertech to make the floor liners for the front. I have the liners in my 08 G35xS. Also, waiting for Tirerack to get an Impreza in for measurements, so that I can order the winter wheelset.

My car should be available in San Jose on the 6th.

Thanks for the iPod/ iPhone info. I was hoping that there was a USB to charge my phone while listening to music. Sweet!

I'm hoping DGM isn't too dark :/ -- i originally wanted white, but you can't get it with a dark interior!
I saw the Dark Grey Metallic on a newer version of the 2011 STi, the dealer told me that it is the same color as it was on this car, or something very similar. And, let me tell you...the "flecks" of shimmer were so nice I knew that was the perfect color and put in my order soon after.

I had the same problem wanting Black on Black, but it doesn't come that way, instead only in the ivory. But the DGM hides dirt a lot better than the black, so that's plus.

Default Manual transmission gear ratios

Wondering if anyone else has had a chance to drive a manual 2012 yet. I've been waiting two months, and finally had a chance to see (and drive) the new Impreza today.

Thumbs up on the car overall, but one thing bothered me with the manual transmission: the gap between 1st and 2nd gear, and to a lesser extent 2nd and 3rd gear, is too large. During "normal/slow" driving it wasn't all that noticeable, but when accelerating a bit harder from a stop, the shift to 2nd dropped the RPMs too much, leading to a lagging feeling before the RPMs and power came back. The same thing occurs from 2nd to 3rd; it's similar to the feeling when you skip shift (say, going from 1st directly to 3rd) but to a lesser degree. Given that the engine is not that powerful to start with, the gearing is important to the driving experience.

I've only had one test drive so I'm not sure I completely trust my experience, and was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same.

While most likely not a dealbreaker, its definitely a disappointment. I assume the gearing was chosen for fuel efficiency, but I can't say I agree with the choice.

Is that what your dealer told you or did Subaru send you an email? I notice that everyone on the west coast is the last to know any details. My dealer said that the their Rep can't give any indication on when we will get ours. All I know is they have my master cylinder. I'm wondering how long it's going to take? My original ETA was 11-23 and I ordered the car back in early September. Thanks

Generally I would say this is true...but the Nokian WRG2 is the one exception that I would say. It is one of the few all season tires that also bears the winter "snowflake" symbol showing that it meets the stringent standards to also be a good in the snow, ice, etc. If you haven't heard of them lately, check them out.
