The leather does have a more musky animal hide smell these days (it smells like leather). The Infiniti has a much better quality supple leather seating than the Subie. Even the fake leather sections on the sides are of better quality. But, I do like driving the new Subie because it is light and nimble.
Hmmm....that's a good idea, seal in the new car smell. I was asking if it was too early for the leather seats because I remember someone a few months ago bringing up the idea of using a cleaner on the dash. Someone chimed in saying it wasn't a good idea because the plastics need to naturally leech out or something. I wasn't sure if the leather seats were the same.

I ordered my car in October2011,told the salesman i wanted to use the $500 toward service for the car. Picked up the car in dec. 2011. i did not get any word on $500. I waited a few weeks ,asked the salesman about it . he said I'll check on it and get back to you. No word from sales guy. I called dealer and was told the salesman no longer worked there, I told guy on phone my problem. He calls me back later in the day and says I should be receiving e-mail from Subaru in 2 weeks about the $500 for service.Well the two weeks is up in a few days and no e-mail or anything from Subaru.Subaru should have just offered $500 of the price of the car if you ordered early .

Call or email Subaru directly. My salesperson was on top of this all the way & was getting a run around from Subaru of America the entire time. Someone at Subaru researched it, found my selection for the add'l warranty & had a manger assigned to "fix the issue" & said there was an IT problem. A week later I got confirmation from Subaru in form of email as well as a call from my salesman that it was taken care of. Warranty info arrived in the mail a few days later for A BETTER extended warranty than the gift selection. I lucked out. Took SOA about 5 days to resolve it & get back to me. My salesman said that pre-order gift option is a clusterf@*!k with SOA & ride them til they get it right. It worked for me.

PS. This was just resolved last week. I ordered in Aug, picked up in Dec. I hear ya!

Id suggest calling them. My emails to SOA were simply forwarded to the dealership.

Yes, call them up (800-SUBARU3) and explain to them the situation. When I called up, they had given me a certificate code that the dealership needed in order to get my accessories.

To the rest of your questions: I don't know. I just pulled a Plug 'n' Play. I am happy enough with the results. There is good definition and the frequency response "feels" flat without conducting any formal tests. My music ranges from classic, opera, 50s rock, 60s-70s rock, jazz, flamenco, blues, folk, electronica and other. If I can tell the trumpets from the saxophones over road noise I think that's pretty good for car audio.

With four identical speakers in four doors I have checked out the difference between 100% front versus 100% rear and the difference is very noticeable. The fronts, being a much more direct path, have much more definition than the bounced-around rears. I now cruise with the front bumped up +3 so the rears are more like filler to "fatten" the sound a bit.

I live in the So Cal area too, and it took me almost 7 weeks to get my Sport Limited. Some are just rolling in slow.

Thanks all for answering my question about the wheel locks!!

Has anyone put a bike rack on their new ride yet, if so what kind?
I have the rails already on the Sport Limited.

I'm in San Diego too, we're gonna have to order our sport limited, no dealers anywhere have that model in stock. Also, avoid Kearny Mesa Subaru, they're awful. Salespeople aren't knowledgeable at all, and the sales manager is a joke. He literally told me that if I want to sell my car on Craigslist and risk getting shot and killed instead of taking his lowball offer, then I should do that. He literally said that to me.

Go to this page on subaru.com:
http://www.subaru.com/tools/maps/dealer/find
Enter your city & state.
The page should then display 6 Subaru dealers, from Costa Mesa to San Diego. From there you can search each dealer's inventory.

Currently:
South Coast Subaru has 1 limited sedan.
Irvine Subaru has 5 limited sedans a 1 limited hatch.
Frank Subaru has 1 limited sedan.
None of the other 3 (Kearny Mesa, Bob Baker, El Cajon) show any limiteds.
Inventory does change all the time, but it looks like Irvine typically has the largest inventory to choose from in your area and would be the place to go if you're looking to buy one off of the lot rather than special order and wait. Pickings are pretty slim right now, as demand is very high.

If it were me, I'd e-mail internet sales at Irvine and see what you can get.

If you would special order, then e-mail a couple other dealers of your choice to see if they can beat Irvine's offer, then give Irvine another chance to beat any offer the other dealers came up with. You'd probably have to special order your Impreza to do that, though, since inventory is so slim that the dealers don't have many comparable models in stock. You can contact Irvine here:
http://www.irvinesubaru.com/contact-form.htm

(Side note, I see on Irvine's website that they refer to themselves as "Frank's Irvine Subaru" a couple times, so maybe they're the same ownership as Frank Subaru in National City.)

Anyway, I hope that's helpful and not overkill. Good luck and happy shopping!

For those looking for cars, go to subaru.com and you can get a direct link to the inventory of your local dealers. The inventory will show current stock and cars that are inbound. The system is pretty good, pretty much realtime inventory.

hot enough that you wouldn't want something plastic. I wonder if stiffer exhaust hangers would take care of it..not that anyone probably makes them right now.

That is how I knew what dealer to go to for the model/color I wanted. It was mark as "In Transit" when I went a week ago and made the deal. And it was on there as that the week before hand. Dealer said it is not due in until the 9th. So it appears they will be listed under inventory about a month before it will actually arrive.

Is it March yet?

There is about a month time from when it is first posted as "In Transit". It will obviously show that status up until it is delivered to the dealership.

ST Eye is right. IME, I pre-ordered late September, was listed as in-transit on the dealer's website late December, took delivery early February. I know it's easier said than done but try to be patient. It's a great car that's worth the wait.

Cool waiting time

In the Seattle area everyone seems to be stocking Limited and Sport SEDANS.
We were told a 6-12 weeks wait for a simple premium hatch.
It arrived last weekend, after a 5 wait week.

It was a simple Marine Blue, Premium(NOT Sport), CVT, Hatch and we ONLY added the simple All Weather Package. We are VERY happy with the configuration, and not buying a bunch of high profit bling and heavily marked up accessories.
Eastside Subaru suprised us by having the best price in our area of $20,500, plus the usual $150 "required" (actually optional) "Documentation fee" that EVERYONE tacks on at the last second in WA. (including the "low overhead" "best deal" guy in our area....who was much higher than the Eastside subbie price)

Its a lot of car for the money. Our 2000 Accord SE, that its replacing, cost more new, way back then.

And this car is REALLY FUN to drive.

We are adding Xpel on the leading edges, for mountain and winter driving, since they "sand" the roads around here with gravel, But we are getting it done for almost half the price of the dealer offer.

I've heard it's not that they're stocking sedans, it's that the hatches are selling so quickly Subaru can't build 'em fast enough.

Default Auto Show $250 voucher off of Purchase Price

If you have not purchased yet, or are waiting for your shipment, most auto shows where Subaru is displayed have a kiosk where you simply enter your info and complete small 10 question survey Subaru will send an email with a $250 manufacturer voucher to your email address. Simply haggle your best price and as you are finalizing the payment hand the dealer the coupon. I know the auto show in Milwaukee is going to have this feature. I just went to the Chicago Auto show and I asked the Subaru rep who told me about the program.

Can someone with a sport grille on there 2012 look and see if your emblem on the grille is on with clips like the 2008-2011 sport grille. I have a sport grille on my 2011 but it has the older smaller emblem. I want a larger emblem that matches the rear. There is no way for me to get the OEM one to work because its held on by double sided tape. So if you get a chance can you 2012 sport grille owners check for me, I'm hoping it will work since there both mesh.

Has anyone found a way to completely turn off vdc, I've tried the fuse trick that works on the forester and outbacks but that kills are power steering and throws a CEL. Btw I tried both fuses, #33 under the dash inside the car and fuse #1 under the hood.

Has anyone found seat covers for the front seats, that REALLY fit the 2012 with its "scooped out" back?

If my wife actually lets me take the Impreza up to the mountains for hiking....someday, I need to keep the seats clean.

Also, we keep our cars a LONG time and we noticed the driver's seat seems to be the weak point for showing decay in an aging car.
