I tried as well with the front tire off & not putting the seats down and it was a no go for me. I was advised not to put a strapped bike rack on the back with the spoiler on the hatchback because it could warp the spoiler or break it off entirely. They recommended a hitch & hitched bike rack or the roof. For now, this works for me.

Default Waiting

Don't forget there are many on this forum that ordered August 2011 and got the keys December 2011. 4 months of agony. Luckly we found this forum to share our frustrations. Be patient you will get your car and you will love it.

have you checked the owners manual? I have had cars in the past that it was an option to turn on but came with it off.

J-Rod,
Sorry to hear about the confusion and the chicken $h!t salesman that got the delivery wrong. As far as cancelling goes I wouldn't if I were you because you ordered after me and are still closer to getting your car! Seriously though, you are 9 weeks into the wait so a little more won't hurt.

Unless your car delivers after they start selling 2013's because then your car is a year old and should be substaintially discounted.

I sure hope it doesn't take that long!! We're gonna ride it out and hope the car gets here soon . . . 3 more weeks until the 12 week estimate hits.

Hope others on here are getting better news!

I am going to have to schedule a time to remove the trailer hitch and STI rear sway bar from the car; everything else IIRC has been removed from the car already.

I am going to have the dealership make copies of all of the required documents and submit them via certified mail to SOA.

I have 5K miles on the car, so they will charge "usage", not sure what that will end up being. As long as the amount is equal to or greater than what is owed to Chase Auto Finance / Subaru Auto Finance, then we will be able to walk away from the deal without too much of a net loss other than our time and convenience. The dealer is eager to make another deal with me on another Impreza, but without talking to them more about it, I do not want to have to pay for additional TTL that may or may not get refunded off of this repurchased car, unless the costs can be transferred and SOA provide payment assistance to get us a similar deal on a new car.

I really did like my Impreza, but safety system malfuctions are no bueno. As long as it doesn't happen with another car, I would be willing to get another Impreza, if I don't show an additional financial loss on this deal.
James, when I had my bought my new car Subaru paid for the registration on it. I also didn't pay tax on the new car either. If you buy a car that is worth more than your current one, they may make you pay tax on the delta. Just FYI..

anyone have the repair manual from Subaru, did you download all the individual files from the techfiles, or is there a all in one pdf out there?
I haven't paid for the tech sight yet, was planning to just do the 3 day thing and get the manual, but one pdf would be much better than a hundred little ones

You can buy a PDF version of the service manual on ebay for about 12 bux.

Good to know. Over the weekend the dealer inventory is showing a base 5-door, DGM, with grey interior. I would consider that car, and it is optioned the same as my white 5-door.

J-Rod / Flyboy,
Best of luck guys but after as long as I've waited all I can tell you is hope for the best and expect the worst. An estimated date is an estimated date and you can see from my saga they come and go. You would think that when they give entire months for the estimates they would be able to deliver some time within that month. Unfortunately for me since Tuesday is the start of my third estimated month it's pretty obvious that their delivery / estimation / transportation system is about as useful as a football bat.

ElkgroveJerry,
Yes there were people that had long waits in the past. Those waits were justifiable with the earthquake and then the stop-ship for the master cylinders. The problem with todays delays is that there are no good justifications and SOA is not telling people why their orders are delayed. Please note that I'm not trying to take anything away from your past situation I'm simply stating that waiting sucks but it's easier to take when your know why you're waiting.

my car was a pretty basic Sport Premium 5sp, only a couple quick port options, no body parts etc.

i was just impressed to get a VIN after 3 weeks, and an estimated date of Mid May when I was originally told June. I can wait till June, then I can have all the cash I wanted to have for the car

There is a 2009 Audi A3 with 17k miles on it near me, Certified pre-owned that us under warrant for another 3.5 years, 83k miles, Silver, leather everything, S-Line options, and the Audi dealer is asking slightly less than what I'm paying for my Impreza . . . and that's before I haggle them down a bit.

Really tempted to go check it out . . . we were originally checking out the A3, but decided we didn't wanna spend $35k for a new one. This seems like a possible alternative . . .

I ordered my ISM Limited Sport no nav, no moonroof, beginning of March and picked it up last weekend, so looks like exactly 8 weeks for me. Had a manufacture date of 3/12.

I'm deciding if I should take the next step and get the Kicker replacement speakers for $190; since, the tweeter upgrade is definitely worth it but I'm not so sure for the speakers.

Arrived at my destination. The car is going to the dealer Monday. Just wanted to see if any body else has experienced this.
Took the car in this morning first thing. By this morning the light had finally come on and stayed on. The car was in fact down at least 1.5qt. No visible leaks were found. Went ahead and had them change the oil and note that the low oil indicator had illuminated. Then got on the phone with SOA and talked to Chris, who was extremely helpful. He opened a case and noted that the car will need to have a consumption test performed if this problem arises on this cycle. I'm not ecstatic about this situation but I'll let the car cycle this oil before I get worked up.

I had the same thing happen. The light came on at 3000 miles and I took it to the dealer. They said It was down .5 qt not much.

Just an FYI:

Got off the phone with my dealer and he said the next boat will be in on the 9th. VINs should be assigned by the 8th, he thinks. So expect the car two weeks later.

Every since Saturday morning, when this started, I have been checking the dip stick when I crank the car and before I shut it off. It has read close to the middle of the stick between the "high" and "low" marks... but the service guy told me not to trust the dipstick reading . I thought that was what the thing was there for!

I would wait a few minutes after you shut your car off before taking the measurements. Don't trust the dipstick? That's news to me.
