dark grey metallic. 20% tint on the windows.

White would be a nice contrast but shows brake dust bad and is a little ricer in my opinion.

Plastidip is ok i guess but ide rather get something that last a long time.

From what I saw in the service repair manual, you're supposed to use the rear diff to Jack up the rear of the car. Not sure if I'd feel comfortable with that tho...

I had the same bright ideas Auskip07. I just didn't get past the turning the idea into reality yet. Please post some pics once you get them on the car, I think they will look great! I have a 5dr Premium and 16s are starting to grow on me, but I just know that those rims will look great on the car! I'll probably consider doing the same when the stock Yoko's wear out. But that will take some time since I just hit 3,000 miles after almost 4.5 months!

.
All depends on the wheels, my Team Dynamics just made every car look like it wanted to go into WRC.

If brake dust is a major concern, get a really good wheel wax and coat the whole wheel before you mount them. Once a year and brake dust just sprays off with water.

interesting... thanks fo the follow up?

i hope i can ask a follow up couple of questions: how "deep" are the U/V shape of your jackstands? is all of the cars weight supported by the pinchweld resting on the lowest point of the U/V or is there some "broader contact"?

(i hope this is clear... a bit hard to describe, but i am really concerned about bending the pinchwelds. if i used my existing jack stands, my "U's" are too gently sloped such that i am pretty sure 100% of the cars weight would be focused on the pinch weld resting on the lowest point of the U.)

i'm not thinking of doing any major work beneath the car beyond the oil change and perhaps changing differential fluid like you did, but i don't want to damage my pinch welds.

after eyeing the car a while visioning the wheels i have determined that the rear of the car sits a little low compared to the front maybe half and inch

EDIT: I just measured the top of the rim Center to top of the wheel well and the front sits about 1" higher than the rear

Is there a way i can adjust this. i want a front raked look. similar to how they picture it here.

It looks like i need to find a way to raise the rear.

If the pinch weld don't look like they'll take the weight put the jackstands under your a-arm mounts. If the mounts don't look sturdy enough use the front subframe mounts.

These positions are often used when your car is on an alignment rack so they'll normally hold weight without damaging anything on most cars.

I am pretty confident that you can rest the weight of the car on the pinch welds for 15-20 minutes without any issues -- it is probably more of an issue how forcefully the car is lowered vs supporting the weight there.

That being said, just because I was lazy enough to do it this way does not mean you have to. Ideally you have a jack that reaches the lift point in the center of the car and then you can rest the unibody frame on your jackstands (place the jackstands where I placed my jack).

I had it lifted for only a short time, and as I wrote before, gently lowered it onto the jack stands.

When you bring it to a shop they are probably lifting directly under the unibody frame at 4 points. If you go to get your tires rotated some shops just throw one jack under a side to lift the entire side. They aren't gentle and the car isn't lifted by angels using feather pillows. If they are not damaging the car you probably won't, either.

The front pinch welds can take the weight on jack stands. It's jacking up the whole side on them that you should be concerned with. If you are going to do that, I would put a small block of wood between the jack and the pinch weld.

thanks. i'm just a bit overly anxious about this i guess.

i can definitely jack the car up using the support plate in the center near the front (behind the oil pan) as specified by the shop manual...so i guess i should be ok if i lower the car gently onto a pair of jack stands.

I've done searching and can't come to a definitive answer. I am looking for a front license plate delete for my 2012 2.0i in ice silver metallic. Basically i am looking for something like this:

but without any lettering or anything. Just a blank plastic cover that is matched to the color of my model. The unsightly holes have got to go.

Anyone help me out?

You're good, trust me. (famous last words) But seriously, if you're lowering the car onto properly placed jack stands, you're good.

Budget?

What's more important to you: power or mileage?

Thx.

Properly placed should be easy, right? To me that means

1. Jack stand is placed between the two notches in the pinch weld.
2. Jack stand is perpendicular to pinch weld seam such that seam rests in bottom of U of jack stand.

Doesn't have to be exactly on the marker in the pinch weld, it strive to be in that area. The pinch weld should fit in the center of the saddle of the jack stand. Lower the car slowly and check. I always double check after the car has been lowered for safety's sake.

budget isn't that much of a concern but I'm not a baller lol my payments on my LGT were 400 before i wrecked it & i was maintaining well.
coming from a 06 LGT' I'm used to the mileage, I'm assuming its around the same...doesnt really bother me i drive 13 miles to work and 13 miles back 3 days a week.
The Impreza just seems a lil too weak.....

If money really isn't an issue, go with what you think you'll be happier with in the end. I wish my '12 Impreza had more power, but I can live with it because of the trade off with mileage. With the price of gas now and the ton of miles I drive every year, the regular Impreza was a no brainer for me. Also, just an FYI, I'm not sure how much you plan to finance or what your credit looks like, but the payments on my Impreza Sport Premium are just about $400/mo and that is with putting $4,250 down.

The Impreza is not weak for its class, the WRX is a different class of vehicle altogether.

Buy what you want but they are not all that comparable, one is an economy car with AWD that is a great daily driver and the other is an AWD sport car that is fun and also a good daily driver (just a lot more expensive to drive daily).

There is also the longevity of a 2.0 liter vs. the WRX turbo motor. I suspect the 2.0i will run a lot longer without needing repairs and there will be a lot less expense for necessary repairs (and the clutch will probably last longer as well).

One can AVERAGE 30mpg+ with regular gas, and the other will get that occasionally on the highway using premium fuel (but realistically you'll probably be seeing low-mid 20's overall).

You sound like you want to be convinced to buy an 'underpowered' 2 liter economy car when you really want a sports car. In that case get the WRX, otherwise you will be here constantly complaining that you bought the wrong car.

You could do what I do, drive a fantastic economical daily driver and keep a sportbike in your garage for when you want to induce whiplash. If that isn't an option get the WRX.

I would love to have a WRX but I don't want to trade MPG's for power -- I didn't even consider buying the previous generations of the Impreza because it was a gas hog compared to similar size cars (the 2011 Impreza with a 2.5 liter engine got about the same mileage as my wife's 2011 Nissan Rogue -- the Rogue is a lot bigger and has better ground clearance for driving in the snow and wasn't all that more expensive, either).

Keep in mind that $4.00 isn't a government mandated ceiling for the price of gas. No matter who is in the White House it will probably start climbing again (especially when the economy starts growing and the demand for oil starts increasing worldwide again).

You may not want to be filling a sports car if the price of gas hits $5/gallon for premium. But then again, some people like driving big cars like hummers and don't complain about the price of gas 'cause they're ballers.

That's why many of us are buying the fuel efficient Impreza... Of course it is also cheaper to buy than the WRX, so that's a lot of savings right there.
