Really?! That's interesting. I smell a lot of 2012 retrofits happening soon.

Also, do you need a crossover, or is that somehow already built into the system? Just wondering if I can pick up some speakers for the door, then the tweeters separately. I ordered a Premium without the tweeters.
definetly get the tweeters. the only option i really really wanted on my car was the Kicker tweeters, and it was worth it. i figured i could do front speakers with the Polks i mentioned for under 100.00 and probably be happy. i can't really hear the rear speakers other than a little fill when driving, so the soundstage is setup pretty well in the front

Do you really want tweeters both in the dash and the door?

Just looked up the install procedure, looks simple enough. Probably will just get the Kickers from Subaru and put them in my self. I am just curious on doing third party, so that I can get one series of speakers in both the tweeters and doors, hoping that the sound characteristics then match up pretty well.

Well supposedly the Pioneer AVIC 3300 is going away too, some other "Subaru" badged unit will replace it.

Is there any news/rumors/pictures of the 2013 Impreza? (Not Crosstrek, WRX and STI)

Default Steering :(

The only thing that is bugging me about this car besides the passenger airbag issue is the steering -- specifically the number of turns, lock-to-lock. Just cranking that wheel 'round 'n' 'round 'n' 'round gets REALLY old for me. I could ignore it except that it screws up the use of the paddle shifters.

I take one freeway transition ramp every day and it is really useful to downshift mid-way though the turn but as close to impossible as doesn't matter due to the wheel being cocked around nearly 180. In my WRX the wheel required about 50-60 of lock.

Not only is the number of turns very annoying to me, but the car is twitchy on center -- i.e. a tiny bit of lock at freeway speeds results in an almost darting motion. I am waiting until I get a precision 4-wheel alignment before I really complain about that, though, because that is the sort of thing that can be dramatically effected by alignment. And by "complain", I mean "gripe about it here" because there is nothing Subaru of America can do about a fundamental issue in the suspension geometry.

The guys doing the alignment at Glenn's in Costa Mesa will be installing my STi rear anti-sway bar at the same time. Install the bar, do the alignment. The bar shouldn't effect alignment, but it can so it pays to align after any suspension work.

What is the status of the passenger airbag issue?

Mine or all of them?

Mine: I haven't taken it in yet. Waiting for regular service interval.

All of them: I don't know.

Either the end of this month or the end of next they are putting a Recall out for the airbag , at least that's what they told me. I spoke with a senior Rep at Subaru of America and they said parts weren't suppose to be here until late June .After I told them I wanted them to buy my car back if they can't fix it within 30 days( this coming Monday will be day 23),they magically are over nighting parts to my dealership tomorrow. So lets see what happens.

A recall for everyone? Certain VIN series? Or just to cover those affected?

They really didn't get into details with me, they just said they were putting a recall out.I imagine it would be for the earlier vins , I'm not sure if the people that have been getting their cars later have had any issues.I could be wrong though it wouldn't be the first

I'll ask the senior rep at SOA when I talk to her again what the recall is exactly...not really much help though right now sorry.

open your driver's side door, and there is a plate in the door sill (it's a plate that will face you if you open the door and its down near the ground).

I use Polk DB6501 components. You might be better off going to madisound.com (or similar) and getting some nice 6.5" woofers from there. Aside from paying for unused tweeters, you'll be losing piston area by going with a coaxial configuration.

Regarding the airbag issue, I just started a thread to discuss it.

after doing some looking, I don't know if i want to get just woofers for the doors or not, It seems most of them only come in component sets, which i don't want (maybe they would be better than the kicker tweeters, maybe not) so either way I will have some unused tweeters. I am planning on using the stock radio to drive them anyway, and not planning an amp (too much hassle to rewire everything)

i do think the factory speakers are really boomy, the bass sounds decent, but it isn't "tight" at all. so I do want something different, just not sure yet of what.

Right. The motor structure is way too small for the cone so it rings like a bell.

I haven't heard the Kicker tweeters, but they seem to be well liked.

The 6501's tweeter is excellent, but the wiring and mounting are more difficult. It comes with surface and flush mounts. I'm going to cut the grille panels for flush mounting. The set is efficient so it does well from head unit power.

Which model impreza do you have? For the limited trim without nav, there are ways to shut off the loudness circuit and default EQ

Angry Crack in my bumper

I was driving behind a mini-van today that drove directly over a full peice of tire shred from a semi. It shot out from under her car and went right under mine. Got a nice 6-8 inch crack in the bottom lip of my bumper...I've had my car since March and have only made 2 payments!

Will have to replace the whole bumper to fix it. Sadly my deductable is not $250, and I'm thinking this will be around 5-600 to fix so dont think I'm going to claim it. Talked to me dealer and I can get a primered bumper for $250, would then just have to get it painted and could probably put it on myself.

Soooooooooo mad! The lady did not swerve or brake at all, just drove right over the freaking thing. I had zero time to react before I was over it too. Still not sure what I'm going to do. I definitely want to fix it, but with my luck after I do something else will nail my bumper, so debating when I should do it.

My first new car and the first time I've ever gotten somewhat major damage on the highway. Arrrrrrgh!

Yep my car has 2500 miles on it and find my car was hit in the rear with a trailer hitch in the parking deck. Its not terrible but will requre me to filler and paint to fix. No sweat its my daily driver and im sure it wont be the last of many bumps and scratches others will put on it. Nothing i can do besides park on the ends and hope people dont back into it again. Deductible is 1k so im not even bothering with it.
