Next week I plan on driving to NYC from Chicago, almost 1500 miles round-trip. I'm not sure whether I should get an oil change now or get it after I come back. By the time I come back I will have gone 300 miles over the next oil change interval, which is as 5200 miles. Last week I checked the dipstick and the oil seemed pretty dirty. What do you guys think? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. By the way, is the 2nd scheduled service just an oil /filter change?
The oil change interval on the car is 7,500 miles, you are fine. And you would have been fine if you never change the oil up until this point and still took the trip.

Also oil on a dipstick usually looks dirty a few minutes after it goes into most car car, nothing to worry about. "Dirty" oil mean the oil is working, if you have pristine looking engine in the oil pan, it would mean it isn't doing anything. Detergents in the oil remove crud from the engine and cycle it around in the oil. Not to mention everyone has a different idea of what dirty looks like. Trying to determine the real condition of oil by looking at it is about the same as determining what color underwear someone is wearing by how well they park their car.

Go here if you want an accurate analysis of what is happening with your oil, only $25:

I'm thinking about buying the rear roof spoiler and installing it myself. The instructions seem pretty straightforward, except that I'm not sure what step 11 in these instructions is telling me to do:

http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/660...210fj600xx.PDF

It looks like they're saying to file the holes (to remove burrs etc), clean it with compressed air and then paint it. Would touch-up paint be sufficient?

Take the trip, you'll be fine. Then change it when you get back. BTW, in all the cars I have owned, the oil always turns dark. It's not "dirty" it's normal.

I have been thinking of getting the sedan spoiler/lip for my car. But I don't wanna spend $350.00 on a piece of plastic. Grrrr....

Speaking of oil changes, I got this coupon for $20 for 3 free oil changes at Big O Tires. They use Kendall synthetic oil. Good brand or should I go ahead and buy my own oil and tell them to put that instead.

If so, what oil brand would you recommend?

I think 2012 are 0W-20?

If you end up installing it, can you please document it? Planning on doing the same but I need some guidance.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I stumbled across the EZLip site in my searches & I'm just not sure about it. It doesn't have the exact same look & while it provides the lip it can't produce the angles & flat drop lip that the OEM does.

You can get 30% off orders at www.subarupartswarehouse.com using these coupon codes:

15% off with SPW-630 (expires 6/30)
15% off with MDS12 (expires TODAY)

You can use them both at the same time. I just ordered the front underspoiler and roof spoiler for $421 shipped.

Life Saver! I placed an order for the roof spoiler, mesh grille and seat protectors 3 days ago. Contacted them to cancel that order and re-did my order with both discounts codes! saved me $150 dollars.. Came out to $431 instead of paying $510 originally.

that's awesome! i was already happy with just having one code the other week when ordering my tweeters. too bad their shipping is costly, else i'd pick up a few more cheap items.

anyone find parts for the 2012 on their website (ie, oil filters, etc.). although they seem to have a catalog for 2012 accessories, they don't seem to have one for parts on their site. (just shows 2011 impreza)

Anyone use this stuff?

http://fw1shine.com/

I was cleaning my glass yesterday with Rain-X Glass cleaner(Safe on tint) and it made it even worse. Drove to work this morning and all I saw was smudge streaks all over my windshield.

Anyone have a better solution on glass cleaners that won't leave streak/smudge after wiping?

My gripe is the sun visor, on the door, it dosen't cover up fully since there is no extender.

What works best is either windex or invisible glass wiped off with crumpled newspaper (instead of "lint free" cloths or paper towels, which always deposit lint).

Try the newspaper trick, I'm a believer.

Well it seems that I HAVE to buy something with the coupon codes. I have the sport premium with basically no add-ons. I did pickup the floor mats, a hood protector, and a cargo tray a couple months ago. So if you had to choose, which would you go with, the side body moldings or the aero splash guards? Do either of them provide any protection at all?

Splash guards work. The side moldings just get mashed up so you have a dinged up side molding instead of a dinged up door. Still looks bad...

That did not honor the double discount from Subaru Parts Warehouse

"Supplier Comments:
05/31/12 12:59 PM - It appears that you have entered multiple discount codes on the second order. Only one can be used per order. (Please refer to terms of use accept by placing the order http://subarupartswarehouse.com/parts/?86a) We would certainly honor the higher of the two but in this case they are both the same. Please let us know if you would like to proceed with correct amount of $510.74 or cancel order. Thank you."

Too good to be true, apparently, and crappy shopping cart programming that allows multiple discount codes even if it violates their TOS. I'm sure I'll get my copy if this email soon enough.
