I for one am grateful for the extra clearance even if it is just .2 inches. Wish it was more actually. I drive up and down some pretty scary roads and driveways and have even scraped my front sub frame on a driveway that was humped in the middle. Probably should of held out for the XV for max clearance.

Took the car to the dealer. Couldn't get the airbag warning to replicate but they went ahead and documented the issue. Just in case it ends up being more than one time thing.

Doesn't the Sport (and the impreza Limited) have the 17inch tires? I'm thinking of eventually replacing the 205 50's with 205 55's for a few tenths gain in height.

Never could find the .2 inch difference on the 2012 Sport and also the 2008 OBS over the other models with the same tires. For 2012, the Limited and the Sport have the same tires, so that can't be it.

So the extra height is from the struts then?

No, the light went off when I power cycled the car. The code is stored though. It happened to my car twice in ~500 miles.

Did they scan the car for a code? If so, they should have seen it.

Isn't it obvious where the .2" difference comes from?

Q: What does the Sport have that other models don't have?

A: Helium filled roof rails (provides a .2" suspension lift).

No code came back but The tech went ahead and documented everything for when SOA calls to follow up. Just in case it happens again. I'm glad I happened to think to snap a pic of the dash while it was on.

Furious, that is what they said the first time I brought my car in. TBH, I think the guy just cleared the code because SOA said that airbag lights (even if they go off) store a "hard code" and won't erase unless you clear them.

At any rate, at least they documented it. However if it persists, I would reference the TSB and have them replace the module.

As long as you wave the heat back and forth, it won't deform. You have to take out all those plastic rivets on the top in order to get your hand down there and have a good view. Then you have those 4 things at the bottom that you have to pinch to remove. Those 4 screws are holding the piece on each side of the emblem, 2 each.

While I was at the dealer yesterday with the airbag light issue. The tech gave me a copy of the TSB that was released on 5/29/12 regarding issues with the passenger seat airbag issue for models built prior to Feb 2012. It covers the faulty sensor and the Ipod/Iphone/Ipad interference issue that some have experienced. Until the airbag warning lights up again. I'm going to write mine off as the latter.

Yeah i can't Imagine going any lower. I already hit curbs when parking if not careful (use to other cars being taller then curb) and have alot of trouble getting my jack under the car.

The real question should be, has anyone LIFTED their Impreza yet, getting a jump on the XV release, and making all those waiting future XV owners jealous?

Not yet, but I was curious about adding an inch or so for the winter. Pretty sure that would give you a handling and MPG penalty though.

funny (and not so funny) that i bottomed out the first time in my car (after 2.5 months and 2400 miles) yesterday coming out of a shopping center. really surprised me.

i can just get my jack under the car and hit the front jack plate...as i have noted elsewhere, this clearance isn't as bad as my wife's prius whose front bumper is extremely low...i'm guessing the Impreza has an extra 1.5+ inches of clearance than the Prius.

There's a huge speed hump in my neighborhood that I can drive over with my WRX without scraping, but once when I had the Impreza I completely smacked the bottom, which REALLY surprised me! After that I just took the alternate route home (two ways to get in, only a couple hundred feet distance difference between them).

This car would look good lowered, according to the ricer in me, but probably not necessary unless you're putting skid plates under it to help with airflow and drag... Hmmm... That gives me and idea...

Raise it! I bet you don't take too much of an mpg hit, and the handling on a 148hp shouldn't be a factor. Roof racks and Bike carriers would drag more. Let the ricers and the WRX crew worry about that. Imprezas need to get those groceries home without resorting to skid plates! I'd like to see pics of owners who visualize their Sport Impreza as a mini-Outback, as opposed to those who see their Sport Imrpeza as a WRX-lite. Go mini outback, go!!

Dave Dave Dave... you're not even close. The volume of hollow roof rails cannot store sufficient Helium to generate enough lift to account for that .2". The truth is that Subaru is quietly fielding the experimental gravity drive in the new Impreza. The vehicle felt underpowered at times because the gravity drive is diverting power the engine. The extra .2" is there because the existing design has not yet reach functional requirement of supporting the entire vehicle weight.

I've had the hood deflector on my car for a couple weeks now, but I really have not noticed any reduction in bug impacts on the hood and windshield. Maybe only 5,000 bugs a week get smacked instead of 5,500, but not enough to be useful it seems. I might take it off.

Is it the OEM? Isn't that one affixed to the hood with screws or bolts?

How does it look? I have been thinking of getting one myself, but have been on the fence...

Yes the OEM. It looks OK, but IMO looks better without. It is affixed to the hood with clips, and screwed into the clips. Installation isn't too difficult.

I say ditch it and get a clear bra if you're worried about chips. The hood deflector is crazy ugly IMHO.
