The only exterior thing that was new on the '09 was the paint on the wheels. You should know this, SnowD.

I hope the rumor of carrying over the WRX/STI for a couple more years is inaccurate. Subaru will lose a few sales if that happens. Three that I know of personally are putting off their purchase until the next STI bows. Plus I'll be in the market myself soon as my '06 is getting up there in miles, and I'm not especially interested in the current model. Maybe I'll go for the Boss 302 after all . The pull from the dark side is strong...

Actually that was yesterday and most everybody already knew about it. Maybe when new news come up, the first page should be updated so that people know.

Many in these hallowed forums were aware of it and watched it yesterday, but I suspect some did not. Good to have readily available.

Btw, how did you embed the video into your post?
I attempted to do the same but came up short and failed ... something simple I'm missing?

Exactly also add in that video hardly gave a real good look at the car so today is still the big reveal where we see many angles interior, specs, etc.

Okay watched the Vid, there may be hope for the ol girl yet, seems like the grille was all we get from the silver concept car. Will reserve final judgement for when I get to see it 'in the metal'.

Also, I was told by a dealer that SubaruNet now has the Impreza and WRX as two completely different models in terms ordering, sales numbers, etc.

In regard to killing it off due to stagnant design...they don't offer redesigns for 1 year. Look at the history of the Impreza since MY2002.

MY02 Impreza = all-new........MY02 WRX = all-new
MY03 Impreza = carry-over....MY03 WRX = carry-over

MY08 Impreza = all-new........MY08 WRX/STI = all-new, add hatch, delete wagon and sti sedan
MY09 Impreza = carry-over....MY09 WRX/STI = carry-over + VF52, new grill
MY10 Impreza = carry-over....MY10 WRX/STI = carry-over + add STI SE.

It just embeded itself when I inserted a link.

Sorry for being a day late, but I searched a little for a Today Show post on 2012 and didn't really see anything. But then again I didn't do an extensive search. Just once I wanted to try and be the cool kid with the new news but I guess the trolls beat me to it once again.

I could see them waiting a few years on WRX / STI refresh if they were planning on adding Direct Injection to the new FB engines.

Makes sense that they want to see the real world feedback from it now being in all the lines before they plan a huge update to it to make the power the WRX / STI would need to compete.

Only a few hours till the official release!!

FatPhil ... as far as I'm concerned you are the cool kid because you were able to successfully embed the Today Show clip. All anyone else could do, or perhaps cared to do, was post a link. U b teh KiD ...

All that I've been doing is racing on Forza to pass the time. Just beat a couple of tournaments, and just finished the class B endurance race with my Cobb/SPT powered '08 street/track Sti.

DI is almost certain now that it seems to be about to appear on the Toyobaru 2.0L NA motor using Toyota DI technology and Yamaha developed heads! Just add turbo and you have WRX/STI. So that is probably why the WRX/STI will be later than the Plain Jane Imprezas. Don't be too surprised if they shrink the WRX motor back down to 2.0L though.

The 5-door is looks like not as "hatchbacky", much more of a wagon. But same size as current? I think its the minivan style windshield....
