Good point.

I guess in my head, being I have watched subies develop over time, is that they are more evolutionary than revolutionary and the CIM prototype appears more revolutionary. That being said they do have new management in certain places with a new mind set. This is certainly evidenced by the departures in vehicles such as the legacy and outback. At least to me those two appear to be more revolutionary.

My local Subaru salesperson told me today that his Subaru Rep told him that sales of the 2012 Impreza will now start either in September or in early October, not in August as he had hoped.

Subaru is currently shooting the first commercials for the new Impreza.

They just wrapped up a shoot in L.A. this past week and shooting again in North Carolina in 3 days.

There are talks from the Fuji guys that the wrx and STi body styles are staying the same for 2012. (They are being tight lipped around people that do not work for Fuji. Including the ad agency account services team)

The impreza is scheduled to be released in Q4 of this year.

Hmmm that would be abit strange, there is only one Plant in the world that makes the Impreza. So either they have multiple lines in that facility or they plan on building a bunch of WRX's & STi's in June & stockpiling them as 2012 models? ..... talk about a "short" sales year & sourcing nightmare if you have specific taste in colors/options

Makes me think of the Baja when it didn't make the generational leap with the Outback.

We just received our order forms for the accessory bundle kits of "new" accessories for the 2012 Impreza. We are to have the parts in-stock and ready for the release of the "Next Generation Impreza" this Summer.

That would actually make a little sense, since the "regular" impreza models could come out this year, while the WRX/STI could come out the beginning of next year, breaking up the release a bit and maintaining sales of the current popular body style for the WRX/STI.

The impreza is scheduled to be released in Q4 of this year.

I sure hope its not that late... I have a family member TRYING to hold out for it, but Q4 is just too long.

i never excited about a concept because almost all the time the concept look like nothing what the production is. the concept is just another tool for the manufacturer to create hype before the release of the actual car

We knew about this for some time. MY2012 WRX /STI is the same as MY2011 while the Impreza is going to be all new.

The 2011 Impreza did not get the same bumpers as the WRX. In marketing material the Impreza is entirely separate from the WRX (two brochures, two websites). They are no longer related, superficially.

In Europe and Australia the STI has a WRX badge not an Impreza.

I have some shots, but because they're from a "buddy" that works for Subaru's ad agency, I'd have to clear with him what I can show.

Also, my "buddy" just got on a plane today to go to the second shoot. When he gets back, I'll hit him up for some more info. And more pictures.

Q4 is VERY disappointing... There are several other new compact cars that are currently or just came out that can eat into those new Impreza sales when it comes out.

Its surprising to me though, that they are filming the commercial now even though its apparently 6 months from even arriving. Usually its cut closer than that...

In production there are many components to a job. Caterers, assistants, grips, wardrobe, make-up, police, etc.

Unless this person puts his sig in the picture....I doubt there would be way to trace him.
I have plenty of friends that work in TV, and they always send me pics (non subaru).

I look forward to leaked photos.

Not everyone has access to photo shoot images; that's usually is restricted to a few on the creative team. Now if the guy snuck camera phone images, that would make it tougher to trace. At the very least, now that this has become public, you can bet that SOA is looking into it.
