Wow, that's pricey compared to the $100 STI bar. And I suspect it might cause more oversteer than many are expecting, especially in slippery conditions.

Actually, if you look back earlier in the thread, you'll see that I mentioned that my point was not specific to Subaru hatchbacks.

I have nothing against Subaru hatchbacks specifically, my issue is with designers of most hatchbacks in general (ie. those that can't be bothered to design some style to them, instead of making them look like scaled down SUVs).

5spd is moderately faster than cvt and if you wanted fast well, you know
adding the aero splash guards, spoiler, and front underspoiler are for looks, you can also throw on some rally mudflaps as well.

if you wanted noise you can always replace your muffler with something louder, there is a thread about this search function will get you there.

Springs you can be our crash test victim for that one. save the money on the oem kicker and just replace the headunit with a nice pioneer, if its still not up to your liking then replace speakers with ones with more punch. still cheaper that buying the kicker and etc.

^ Thanks! Yes, obviously the cosmetics are only for that - cosmetic. Mostly just going looks on this car. But I did find the exhaust thread, and made another about any performance options on this platform (intake, etc). If no one buys the H&R's (or anything else) by Summer, then I suppose I'll be the forums first lowered 12/13 Impreza. haha

I bought this vinyl and had GREAT results. It is cheap and easy to apply. I had so much more material I could probably do another 6 cars, or reapply in the future if needed.

getting my car back this week from the shop since the accident....can't wait to have it back. Tired of driving this crappy mazda 3 rental. horrible gas mileage on the mazda 3 FYI...worse than our car for those complaining about the MPG on our car.

What year is the Mazda 3? For some reason, I am going to have to call you out and say you are over exaggerating everything.

It needs to just "spill" it onto the window, otherwise the turbulence from the air whipping around the car would just spray the person behind you while doing nothing to clean the window.

I am ok with the wiper delay.

Hey guys,

Just got my Subaru the other day. First Subaru I've owned.. It's a 2013 Sport Premium wagon. It's got a handful of factory accessories, and the CVT. Coming from my previous car (Stage 1 11 Civic Si), the Impreza is pretty slow. But I didn't buy it to go fast.. I basically bought it because I was looking for a more "practical" car. Plus, I'm starting a media company, and need something that holds all my gear, and something I can shoot from.

I do, however, like the styling of this car. It's really clean. I love the new rear end of the hatches, and the front kinda resembles the Legacy. The car is pretty comfortable though, and the gas mileage is really nice. Only had a few snowy days here in Pittsburgh so far, but the AWD is a super nice addition in comparison to how the Si was in the snow.

Outside, the car is still all stock with the Sport side skirt and Sport wheels, however I'm adding the aero splash guards, front lip, and bigger spoiler soon. As well as possibly the mesh grille and side strake kit. Inside, I'm not doing much. Adding the SPT/STI pedals, and that's basically it. Engine, nah. lol And suspension, possibly doing the H&R springs and some wheels eventually.

I got the K&N drop in for the car, but didn't put it in yet. Again, not going for speed on this build. Just cosmetics. However, are you able to run any intakes or axleback exhausts on this car without a tune? I know the Si was very touchy if you did anything to it without a tune. I was figuring on keeping everything stock under the hood since it's not fast anyway, but driving a quiet car is slowly driving me crazy. lol I just want a little more sound - IE possibly some type of intake box and possibly an axleback. Has anyone done either of those to these yet? I know there's not much support for these cars yet, however since I'm new to a Subaru, I'm not sure what is interchangable from other years.. Also, has anyone done springs / coils, upgraded sway bars, or anything like that? I was considering the H&R Sports for a clean drop, but no ridiculous harshness. Lastly, has anyone done anything with the audio in these cars? It's rather "meh" factory. Mine has the stock non-screen radio and the stock 6-speaker setup. I was considering doing the full OEM Kicker upgrade. Is this any good? Or should I simply get something from Crutchfield? If I do this, how about a radio? If I get a decent double-DIN, will I be able to get adapters for the volume/track and Bluetooth functions? Also, I was wondering if you could do a plug-n-play of the Limited non-nav screen radio into the base slot? IE, the standard screen (without nav upgrade) from the Limited into my Premium, and it be plus and play with the steering wheel controls and Bluetooth. I'm guessing not, because that would be too easy. lol

Having all of that said, I look forward to hearing from you guys and sharing some pics of my progress along the way.
Welcome. If you see this driving around the 'Burgh, wave. It's either me or my wife:

If you see this it's definitely me (the wife can't drive a stick):

Come to our meets at Quaker Steak and Lube in Robinson on the first Wednesday of each month (this month's is on the 6th).

As for an exhaust, talk to the guys at Moore Performance Parts in Bridgeville, they are good guys and have already made a new gen Impreza exhaust. You should be able to swap one on without a tune. I wouldn't even bother with an intake.

The rear sway bar from the current gen STI fits the new Imp. The wheels from pretty much any subaru (except an STi) will fit your car.

As for stereo, I'm not much of an audiophile so I'm no help there.

2013...it avg 22mpg or 21mpg, between driving long distance 60 miles from LA to the OC to 10 miles from Pasadena to LA. it sucks given its a compact car and should have better mileage since its not AWD. my driving habits are the same, i deliberately drove conservatively to see if the car runs better since the impreza was my first non-V6 car i've ever owned. wanted to save gas and personally i think my V6 had similar if not better mileage than the impreza and this rental Mazda 3.

I have no reason to exaggerate, i am not saying the impreza is the best car in the world, so i have nothing to gain. in fact i was looking to buy a mazda 6 before settling on the impreza and sort of glad i did bc the interior feels cheap on the Mazda 3 and even the buttons to operate the windows are oddly placed higher up on the arm rest, i always move the back windows thinking its the driver side.

Not sure if its CVT but i can feel the shift...I had rental at 5k miles on it, so unless the previous renters drove the crap out of it, i don't like the way the tranny moves if its a CVT.

I had a 2012 Mazda 3 rental last summer, it sucked ass, acceleration was not bad, mileage was not that good, and the interior was very cheap compared to the Impreza. Also, it almost stranded us, because the transmission wasn't sure what gear it was in when parked and the car almost wouldnt start.

I could see the little plastic plug (used to reach the disengagement for the auto trans lever) was missing, so they rented us a turd that someone had already trashed.

I probably could have gotten better mileage but the a/c was on full bore all the time (we were in Florida in July) and I drove it like a rental. If you drive an impreza like that, it would return crappier mileage as well. I'm easier on my own car and my mileage reflects it.

Yeah, I find the intermittent speed for the rear too fast as well. Too bad it doesn't use the timing dial for the front wipers.

I haven't noticed any issues with the rear washer nozzle yet.

was testing my LED's tonight for brightness, i ordered these 2 types
1. 15 degree angle, 2400mcd
this one will be used for the overhead ambient lighting. I ordered 2 but 1 will be plenty bright enough.

2. 120 degree angle, 1200mcd
i ordered 8 of these, but I will only be using:
1 per footwell, 1 in the cubby under the radio, 1 per door cubby, total of 5.

I wasn't sure of the brightness when ordering, but now I do. pics will come when I am done.

If you think the Mazda 3 is bad you should try the 2013 Hyundai Tucson more plastic than the impreza extra extra cheap ****ty faux leather seats small gas tank and this thing dumps fuel like nobody's business no matter how kind I drove it. Car had only 2k on it also beware of electrical bugs especially with head unit and auto headlights

Fuelly has '13 average at 32.5 mpg for Mazda 3: http://www.fuelly.com/car/mazda/3

Fuelly has '13 average at 26.4 mpg for Impreza: http://www.fuelly.com/car/subaru/impreza

Look at model year '12 and the 3.5 million miles combined.

Something does not compute with what you are claiming. Sorry.

Not if it is a rental, with 5 people in it, A/C full blast, and being driven like a stolen car (if the people before me beat it, I wasn't gonna feel left out!).

Honestly, I would never buy a former rental car. I think the problem with some peoples mileage is they drive their impreza the way I flogged that rental...
