I autocross, and I used to have a strut tower brace on my '05 STi. Didn't notice a difference at all. I decided to not even get one on my '08 STI. I certainly wouldn't get one for my '12 Impreza. They are good for looks, but the return on investment isn't great IMO.

Unless you want flashy pedals, the sti ones aren't any bigger or smaller.

Short shifter is a better use of your money than the front strut bar

I have the STI pedals (came with the car), they do have an abrasive surface that grips well when wet. I think they are pricey though.

+1 on the short shifter.

i think my foot has slipped 1 time due to it being wet, so I am good with the stock pedals, especially now that I am used to them.

Some recent mods:

I replaced my hatchback light with a really bright LED, but found out when replacing it that there is no backing at all on the fixture, so a majority of the light just goes into the panel and not into the hatch area. some aluminum tape fixed that and I am actually very happy with the light output now, enough that I don't feel the need to add overhead lighting.

Here is the interior of my door panels. you can see where I mounted my crossovers and my LED for the door, I should have taken a better pic of the LED location, but I will have to do that later. If i were to do it again i would probably mount it above the door cubby shining down, but it is angled so it is kind of a pain to get the angle correct.

Tweeters, I orignally mounted them in the stock location but the 2nd grill made them sound muffled, so I went with Commander Keen's idea and flush mounted them to the covers, but I wanted to be able to remove them if necessary, hence the bullet connectors.

And my overhead LED's, I don't have pics yet of the footwells. I still need to tap the mirror power for these, but I know which wire, and I need to get my resistor soldered in, haven't decided yet where I want to put that. the rats nest of wires comes from the factory

Nice. Can you post some pictures with them fully installed?

GUYS

I have a problem with my brand new 13 Sport.

Was putting a couple LED's in today, got back into the car and I had three warning lights on, the shifter was stuck in park, and I had no brake lights. The running lights in the tails worked, but nothing when actually braking. This is ridiculous. I had the VCS light, ABS light and the hill start light all fully illuminated. Originally I had no lights at all, as the 15 lights fuse blew. Any idea what could be causing this? After all this, as I was getting back home, the AT oil temp light was flashing. What the hell happened?!?

A Christmas Tree dashboard is usually a sign of a gas cap that isn't on all the way. Check and re-tighten the gas cap first. If they don't turn off, you've got a bigger problem.

Then again, since you tampered with the vehicle's electronics, it sounds more like you threw something with the LEDs you added.

The gas cap is fine. But how would a pair of LED's do all this? I ended up putting the normal ones back in and it's still doing this. So I'm assuming fuss. Any idea which ones it could be? Or anything else?

How do you blow a fuse just by installing bulbs???

I would agree since he blew a fuse, but I'm still dumbfounded at how that even happens!!

Did you replace the fuse? Most likely, you shorted the lamp socket. All those systems watch the brake pedal switch, so they're now inoperable.

I had to hurry up and leave after, so I didn't get to diagnose. I did end up blowing out two fuses. The "main" lights one underwood and the brake light one under the dash. So now it appears I have all my lights operable, and the parking release switch on the shifter is now working. But upon turning on the car to fully test the shifter mechanism, and the lights are still illuminated. I'll be heading out soon, so maybe it might have to get a couple miles on it to "recognize" the problem is fixed. But at least I seem to have all operable lights now and don't need the screwdriver to get into reverse.. lol Any other suggestions folks?

Trust me, I have no idea how this even happened. I've had LED's in my last two cars with no issue. This is new to me in having issues.

Put the perfectly good stock bulbs back in until they burn out

Do those pedals increase the feel at all in any positive way?

Aw yeah. Looking goodm thanks for the r and d in the hatch illumination. Def an area that needs the attention.
Can you not what wires you are tapping and let me know? I dont want to screw my whip up trying to make it look pretty.
Cant wait to see it lit up

I had aluminum stock pedal in a jetta gli I had and I loved them. With a pair of puma speedcats you can really feel a lot. They are like the domesticated driving shoe.

Doesnt matter in an econobox a whole lot but hey, ill admit I want them too. Isnt that why we are all here? Because we are enthusiastic about our cars? Its a passion no matter the machine. My 2 yr old even says night night to our subi now. Lol.

ya, i will when i make a thread on it. but for the doors/footwells i just bought an add a circuit, and was going to plug it into the illumination circuit with a 3A fuse, all the LED's I am adding will draw less than 1A, i just don't have a 1A fuse.

the overheads as far as I can tell there is only 1 wire up top with switched power, and it is black with a white stripe, so I am tapping that one. i want to figure out some sort of resistor holder though because i am afraid if i solder it in like the other ones, it might be bent and break the fragile little wires, for the doors I used stiff enough 14ga (way overkill, but i have like 400ft of it) and zip tied 2 together so they aren't going anywhere, i will probably end up taping them down too when I do the dynamat.

Flyboy, it sounds like your overhead lights will turn on and off in the same way that the OEM overhead lights do. Is that right? The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking for an ambient lighting solution that will illuminate the cup holders. In my TDI, this ambient lighting came from above, so I was wondering if that's what you were trying to do.

I just received my STI aluminum pedals today from subaru parts warehouse. Will probably install them on Sunday.

I too think that they are a bit over priced for what they actually are, but they're one of the only OEM interior accessories that I really wanted. Also I got them with a 20% off discount.

Its kind of hard to recommend them because of the price unless its something you really want.
