Excellent! I actually went to Subaru specifically looking for the BRZ, but was told that I'd have to wait until 2015 for delivery (I'm sure the salesperson was exaggerating - just a little bit), and that they had no vehicle for me to test drive (or even size myself with... I'm tall and bearing extra weight ). I got to test drive the Impreza though and decided it was the best fit for my style of driving from all the other vehicles I'd test driven (out of about a half dozen). To this day, I'm still not regretting the decision, despite my small gripes.

I'm a car noob and I have a silly question.

When you change from Reverse to Drive or vice versa ... are you supposed to wait before gassing it?

I get confused because I think I've noticed friends in their cars changing gears and driving right away. Like a 3-point turn. They just shift and gas, shift and gas, right away. So I don't know if I'm supposed to be waiting or what, because when I wait, I definitely feel it "settle". So I just automatically assumed that I shouldn't be gassing it while it's trying to ... settle? Or fully click in?

generally? no. but in out cars, it is normal. I dont know why our cars takes so long to change electronically, but it does. normal or regular automatics dont have this long wait period. as a matter of fact, the ford focus had a TSB for this particular reason.

They have other bracing applications for our cars as well.

I'm not seeing anything from them for the 12/13 non-turbo. I've only seen the OEM STI upgrade one, and one "for the Crosstrek" from some Asian manufacturer.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll continue to wait. I generally just take my foot off the brake and I don't gas until I feel like it wants to move itself.

Yes, as it states in the manual. Even when going straight to drive, you're suppose to give it a moment.

My question is, if I am not supposed to use the hole as a guide what am I supposed to use as the guide to drill the holes?
No tips from anyone? I know there was one guy in the thread that installed it on his own

STEye installed his own. You could PM him or search for him in the threads. Can't remember if he posted pix.

And you can confirm this will fit our cars? It looks pretty flimsy with only two mounting points...

Yes that's the exact one I bought. It's a very tight fight because of the plastic trim that has the wiper blades, but with a little bit of pressure and force it will fit perfectly.
Not flimsy at all. It's a very solid bar and doesn't budge once bolted down.

Gorilla Offroad needs a 2012 impreza to test fit a light bar. One of you should either fund my road trip or take your flipping 12 sport there as a guinea pig so I can order one.

I'm not digging the Perrin short shifter adapter. It moves the shifter even further forward, when I already felt that the shifter should actually be moved back a bit.

I think I read something in this massive thread about the Cobb short shifter maintaining the position of the original shifter.

Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks.

he he they aren't the only ones that have been waiting for months to get a car in to do the test fit, unfortunately I live nowhere near gorilla, rally innovations, or etc.

Oh I see. Do you think you could upload a picture of the bar after installation? Does it contact any part of the car once it's all installed? Thanks!

Question, guys. I've been on the fence about what to do about mudflaps/splash guards/underspoiler stuff.

Earlier I had thought about adding side skirts/front underspoiler/aero guards on my Impreza. It would sort of look like this (though it's missing the Aero Guards). To get all the parts to do that... it's going to be pretty pricey even with my discount here at the dealership. I have wide tires (17x8) that like to toss stuff up on my car and my original thinking was the body kit stuff I'd be adding with the side skirts/underspoiler/aero guards would give me a little better coverage. Then I started thinking about possibly getting Rally Armor.

I like my Black/Silver theme I have going on with my car, so I was looking to keep that going. If I were to get Rally Armors, there is a version in gray and a version in silver... either I think would work well with how my car looks now. It'd also be a LOT less expensive than getting all the parts for those body parts to add-on. What do you guys think?

Rally armors only come in black and red. The black flaps come with different color "rally armor" decals, not sure if silver or gray is one of them.

Another favorite is flapatax. Less sure about those colors though.

I say forget the plastic trim pieces and go for RAs or other functional aftermarket flaps.

aero mud guards from subaru offer no practical coverage, get flapatax or rally armor (see aftermarket thread).

Sorry! I meant the silver or gray logo with the black flap. http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Rall...ne-Silver-Logo

Gray would match my WRX wheels, silver would match my car.

i have the subaru aero splash guards, the front spoiler, strake kit and rally armor in silver. I can tell you 100% the aero guards and etc are for looks only. I removed the inner wheel well splash guards which comes with the rear aero kit and added the ra flaps which do a 1000x better job than the aero. the aero was actually a pita especially in snow considering it had the inner wheel well guard on the rear. Once it was removed and I had my ra I had less snow sticking around in my wheel well. The ra screws do come loose so I replaced them with some thicker ones from az, figure I will replace them whenever they get loose. Once thats done they are ready for prime time. when you are going up a drive way or over a bump then do kinda scare you initially after that you get use to the sound.
