You're going to induce over-steer with a 22-25mm rear sway bar. If you understand that, and you're comfortable with what will happen in the corners, then go for it. Otherwise, save yourself some cash and go with this 19mm kit (assuming you already have a 16mm bar back there).

The 19mm will provide very neutral handling, which is fantastic in the corners.

Keep an eye on Craigslist. You have months to score a set for yourself. No rush.

Guize, question.

Has anyone tried yet to use any "underhood dress up items" from other Subarus yet? IE: rad cap, oil cap, battery tie down, etc. I was planning on ordering a Greddy rad cap, Perrin oil cap, the Grimmspeed tie down and possibly the Perrin oil filter cover. Even if no one has, I may go ahead and be the scapegoat and try it next week.

true. the best time to find cheap rims and snow tires is in the spring when people get rid of them, not in the fall when people shop for them.

I can't seem to find any deals w/in 5 hours of me. I did see a set of 15" steelies for 60, but I think I want 16"

I will keep looking, it would be great to find a set of stock Subaru wheels though

not being a dick. I can't control what you waste your money on. Pretty sure I stated yesterday I don't believe in visual only mods, and under hood things like caps really make zero sense to me. But it's your money, and companies need to sell things to stay in business

The only visual mods I have done are functional too. Tint, mud flaps, and yellow overlays on my fogs. Only non functional mod is removing the antennae mast as I don't like the rc car look and I don't listen to fm ever

15" with narrower snow tires is better than 16 with wider tires, at least according to Tirerack.

It is still winter, but you will find them if you seek them, soon.

While I appreciate your point of view, I disagree. I am not building this car for performance. It's being built for a good looking, clean daily. So what I can do, I'm doing. I like visual mods, as it makes the car your own. While tie downs, oil caps, etc do not improve anything but looks, the rad cap does. Not as much as a full rad, but again, not going that route on this car. It's only the daily.

In regards, updates after delivery for those interested.

I know, but 10mm isn't that much narrower (195 vs 205), and I dont want the handling to get that sloppy. 16 is a good trade-off between price and function. Plus I don't want steelies because I think they will be difficult to clean the snow out of the rim, the stock sport wheels are hard to keep clear

See, if I ever show off the engine to anyone I know who also enjoys cars, they share the opinion I have that if it is functional (ie stock caps, tie down) and under the hood, who really cares what it looks like. 99% of people will never know the difference. But it's your car and money, do what you want. You did ask for opinions...

In fact I was just at a car show last weekend with my father in law and we talked a lot about how we would rather see a dirty engine than a dressed up show engine that does nothing more than drive the car on/off the trailer.

I thought of one visual mod I want to do, that won't necessarily be functional, but more just because I can. When I get wheels for winter, I'm thinking yellow.....

I understand what you mean. However, my car most certainly does more than drive off and on a trailer. It has 4,000 miles on it, and I've owned it for 2 months. lol I just like keeping my car clean. But while on that topic, true. A real enthusiast may not care whether or not a car has stock or aftermarket battery tie downs. But a real enthusiast would also appreciate seeing a well executed, clean car. That's what I'm going for. However, I did not ask for opinions. I was seeing if anyone else has tried them yet. lol

And Gregorz, I know I know.. I've been waiting to get my new camera.. And for this weather.. lol This weekend I plan to go out with the D60 for a bit..

It doesn't seem to matter what your opinion is of visual enhancements and modifications are. Claiming it's a "waste of money" or putting it down because you don't "believe" in them is irrelevant and doesn't really contribute to anything.

I could just mow the lawn in front of my house, but I like to make it look nice so I usually try to make diagonal lines across it. It doesn't make the grass grow any better, but it looks nice when it's done. My neighbors don't come over and say "that was a waste of time. I don't believe in that." when I'm done mowing, either. Even if they didn't care for it or thought that, there's no point to them telling me about it.

I suppose I could sum this up pretty easily with "It's all Subaru and it's all good."

averagewhiteboy, have you looked into getting hood struts for your Impreza? I've thought about dressing my engine bay up before, but I figured having the stick just holding it up would still look kinda cheap. The WRXs and STis in my local Subaru group have 'em, so I've just thought about looking into getting some of those for mine.

Very good contribution as always, Reverend.

I have not, but I may check into that..

Personally, I just like little trinkets and accessories simply because it lets you put your touch on the car.. It changes the car cosmetically just enough so that normal people wouldn't notice, but a true enthusiast would. And more importantly, I know it's there. After all, that's the person I'm trying to impress. If I can't look at MY car and love how it looks, I don't expect anyone else to either. If your own car can't make you smile, you're doing it wrong.

GrimmSpeed just released a hood strut kit for the BRZ. Made me think "hey, that'd be neat on my Impreza!" It's quite the problem I've been running into. Well... it's not really a problem until my wallet is empty.
