Dont bother. Cops will give you a ticket. Your better off not having a front plate.

Because the BRZ is being pushed much, much harder on tracks by drivers than the Impreza will be by all but a few drivers who autocross or really push the car. Also, I believe the strut towers on the BRZ I believe are farther from the firewall on the BRZ than the Impreza, increasing flex due to the longer engine bay. That in itself could increase flex that is more easily fixed with a strut tower connected to the firewall than adding more weight in stiffening materials to the front.

Please refer to my post a couple of pages back:

If anyone knows that **aftermarket** strut tower braces are ineffective, it would be the guy who owns and operates that K&C machine. He has obviously tested cars before and after installing aftermarket strut braces, and his machine's data revealed that the braces didn't make any difference.

Does this apply to the factory-installed strut tower braces on the BRZ/Miata? I don't know. But as for installing an aftermarket brace on our Impreza, don't waste your money, unless you're more interested in under-the-hood sex appeal than you are in actual handling improvements.

Strut tower braces, at least aftermarket, remind me of the honda afermarket crowd circa 1996.

A factory one piece steel strut brace is significantly more rigid than a three piece (bolt-together) aluminum aftermarket one.

Oh man, experiencing some issues with my '12 subie now. Within the past few days, the ABS and Traction Control light have gone on and off intermittently upon starting the car, but all the sudden today, after coming to a stop and putting it into park, the car would not shift out of park!

I pushed the brake lightly, hard, midway, nothing. After about nine or ten depressions on the brake pedal, it finally shifted...but that was scary. Luckily I was only in front of my house.

And it's not a false ABS light, I tested it today in the rain (on an empty road) and the ABS literally did not function.

(and yes i'll be making a service appt ASAP)

I had something similar happen to my car several months ago, I was pulling out of the grocery store and all the dash lights were flashing on and off. If its the same thing as what happened to mine, there's a TSB for it and my car hasn't done it since. I had codes P2746 and P2750 - which are codes for the transmission.

If there are codes stored, then recreating the symptom shouldn't be necessary.

I've been getting a lot of questions about the two exhaust setups I've done on my '12 Impreza. Decided to start a topic specifically for my car so the details don't get lost in this massive thread. I can't keep track of what page I've posted certain images or details regarding my ongoing project!

Just camped in my rear hatch...
It was at the florida folk festival. night temps were in the 60's, so i inflated my queen size air mattress 3/4 of the way full and folded the seats down. I'm 5'10, my girlfriend is 5'5. We actually had a nice little bed and slept great!
The weekend was awesome. Lots of great music and people. I parked near a Crosstrek, and after bottoming out on a poorly paved and non-maintained road, I am tempted to maybe put the XV suspension bits on my car. And the front bumper cover on the XV is imo a little better looking. Lots of subes at the show. I'd imagine camping in a Forester or Outback would be even easier.
Gotta say- the Impreza did well this weekend. I actually enjoyed the car, and thanks to the awd I was able to park in a great spot where a lot of cars wouldnt get it.
The seats did suck, three hours in them is the longest I've done now and I really wish for more in that dept. Traffic on I75 was flowing nicely at 85+ mph in the left lanes, so it got a good run. Averaged 31+ mpg for the trip. I like the mpg's, although on the interstate it begs for a sixth gear.

Camping in the Impreza... now that's something I haven't done (yet). Nice to hear stories of Impreza adventures taking place outside the garage!!

I wouldn't go quite XV suspension, but a quick 1 inch lift or something subtle like that would be nice on an Impreza, especially if you had the body kit parts to give it a little more presence.

I camped in my hatch this weekend too.

The girlfriend's family needed help on the farm, about 200 miles from home, so I took our futon mattress and fit it in the back with the seats down. Surprisingly comfortable!

Left on window open a few inches for fresh air, but covered it with a towel from the outside to save us from mosquitoes. I am 6'2 and my girlfriend is 5'11 and we were both fine in there. The front seats had to be slid and tilted all the way forward, but it worked great and i'll definitely be doing it again.

Yeah it was surprisingly comfy and easy. We were much happier than our friends in a little tent.
For anyone interested in having a portable motel room- Walmart has a blue queen air matress for 19.99 that is a pretty close fit. I now have a new appreciation of wagons. I camped a lot back when I was a kid driving around a 1970 vw bus. Gave a guy $300,pulled that thing out from under his tree, aired up the tires, put some fresh gas and a battery and had a nice camper...

I wonder if a full mattress would fit even better than a queen.

Maybe, but with the queen, if youdont inflate it all the way it fills into all the little areas and you end up with total.coverage that you can't roll off of or next to while you sleep.
I'll snap a pic this week sometime.

The heated seat elements are really starting to be noticeable near the back of seat bottom on both seats.. Is this something I just never noticed? The seat bottom fabric is kind of stretched as well.

Anyone else have these problems?
