I think he has the 19mm RSB, but wants to upgrade to a 22mm RSB. It is my opinion that 22mm is too much for normal daily driving, but that's just me. I think the 19mm bar is just right, and should have been the original part on our Imprezas.

I got mine done last week. 35% & only $30 for the whole car precut on ebay. My buddy did them. All good but the back window got a few wrinkles but for $30 & free installation who can beat that. I was amazed that they were cut so perfect that we didn't have to trim at all.

Be warned, I just got another tint ticket this weekend. I have 35% all around... Im just calling it the sexy car tax.

If its illegal in your state, think hard before getting fronts tinted.

Our legal limit is 35%, and I had two tickets in my truck at 5%. My Tahoe is 20% and never had any issues. The sheriffs dept and federal cars are tinted around here 5%. They backed off off pushing the law if they can atleast somewhat see in. At 20% they can. 35% is barely even tinted

If you guys are tinting to keep heat out, think about IR/ceramic film. With 20% all around on my car, running the A/C on 1 keeps the interior cool when it's 95F outside.

I went with Suntek carbon 38 and 25 and it's still pretty hot. Wished I would've gone 25 for both didnt want the hassle. 38 or 35 is the limit in my state. These giant windows are a blessing and a curse haha

The tint limit in North Carolina is 35% and that's what I got in Llumar ceramic. I wasn't taking the risk of getting tickets for anything lower than that. If the black Impreza's didn't have these bright ivory leather seats, the tint would look a little darker.
What I don't understand for you guys with tint darker than what your state law allows, how do you pass inspection or is tint not inspected? The tint on my '99 Explorer is 10 years old and it failed on Thursday because the front windows read 25%. It was 35% new and the years being parked outside cooked the film. I spent yesterday morning replacing it with Gila Ultra Shield from Advance Auto Parts.

Legal in SC is 27%, I have 15% on all 3 of my vehicles and have never had a problem, even when pulled over for other things, tint was never questioned. One thing to consider about your question, not all states have inspections. SC being one of them, no emissions, no safety inspections, nothing!

MA limit is 35% too, but I have a medical waiver for tint due to migraines (one of the few positives having migraines I guess). My car doesn't look that dark though, so I don't think I'd be a target for cops.

I have 17% Viper Tint in the rear half. NJ does not allow any tint in the front, but you can paint the rear half black for all they care. Something to note is that there are clear films available that block UV. I don't know how effective this is against heat, but it will prevent your interior from fading.

Here's a chart with the state laws: http://www.viper.com/Documents/US-St...-Law-Chart.pdf

So I changed my oil today. I had the first two changes done at the dealership because one was free, and the other was just convenience at the time. I couldn't get the plug loose, and had to use a cheater bar to get it out of there. I don't know if this was because of the crush washer, or if the guy at the dealership torqued it down like a jerk.

And let me tell you something - I've been changing oil on various cars for the last 12+ years, and I've never seen oil shoot out of the drain hole with such velocity.

The good news is that I installed a Fumoto valve so I don't have to deal with that bull**** anymore.

Well that explains that. Only the police can hem you up. SC also has the cheapest gas on the east coast.

Here's a couple pics of my car after tint yesterday. They said it would probably be something around 26%, and I think its a good compromise between being too dark and not dark enough:

UV is what causes plastics to decay, and what causes your skin to tan. Most tints block the vast majority of UV, but IR is responsible for carrying most of the heat into the car.

With 20% ceramic, I can see the sun's light land on my forearm, but I can't feel its heat.

There are clear ceramic films that can reject 60%+ IR, and lower VLTs will do even better.

Some states check tint at inspection, some don't. If I lived in one of these states, I'd seriously consider a spare set of front glass.

Each city/state/township is different as far as your risk of a ticket, but in general, the less attention your car and your driving attract, the less of a problem tint will be. If you're pulled over, lower your windows.

I'm guessing the seller has access to template cutting software. My tint installer's website advertising the following:

Quote:
Our facility uses ComputerCut software and equipment for window film patterns, ensuring that a knife blade will never touch your vehicle’s windows. This eliminates any possibility of scratched windows during window film applications.

Yes it does. I just picked someone on eBay that had a high rating with very few negative feedbacks. It was nice to haveb it precut. My buddy said it is so much easier cuz it took all the extra labor out of it.

Any limited owners have OEM rims they are trying to offload. Officially need two.
