Anyone else think the AC performance in these is a little lackluster?

X2- hoping tint helps. In order to cool back seat occupants, you turn it up high enough its too loud to think in the front seat. Minor complaint, but like the stereo and seats, my 2500 Dodge Ram had me spoiled. The air was quiet, very cold, seats were fantastic and infinity stereo was very nice. But this Scoobie was a little less than half the cost too, so I'm ranking those complaints very low on my list of things to bit** about. LOL

Yeah. But it's not just that it's weak, it's inconsistent. It fluctuates more than I would like. It doesn't provide a steady blast of cold even when idling.

I actually had my dealers service manager give it a thorough check to make sure it's working properly. Apparently it is. He even gave it a recharge.

I agree it's a minor complaint, as it does essentially cool the car down.

The AC performance reminds me of the after market AC I had put in my old Civic. It cooled it down, it just took a little longer than the stock one, and it fluctuated too.

Have you tried putting the ventilation system in Recirculate mode with the A/C on, especially when first getting into a car that's hot from sitting in the sun?

Yea definitely sub par. My previous car, 2001 Nissan Sentra had better AC performance and I never once got it recharged.

I've driven in 90+ heat for a couple weeks and never had any issues with the a/c. Maybe it's just past experiences and personal preference?

Yeah, doesn't matter - fresh, or recirculate.

I have no doubt that's true. I don't believe my AC is faulty. I did at first though. Not only because of performance, but also because of excessive condensation. I had never seen such huge puddles before!

Like I said, I had my the service manager look at it. He kept it over night, so I had an Outback for a day. It was cool that day so I couldn't fairly compare performance, but I turned on the AC and it also created a huge condensation puddle. Just another Scooby quirk.

I can't decide if I want to get one of those. Having a 'my 1st Subaru' badge seems a little... lame, to me.

2nd, or more is cool though.

Default Tires?

I'm looking for a taller tire to fill out the wheel arches and increase ground clearance on my 2012 hatchback. Anyone with the factory 17" wheels running 215/60-17 compared to the stock 205/50-17? It's a full inch taller sidewall.

215/60 is going to throw your speedometer off by 5 mph to fast and that size doesn't appear to be the required V-rated tire.

Yeah, I'm ok with compensating for the speedo adjustment. A V rated tire is unnecessary on our cars as I'm not exceeding the speed limit. An H rated tire in 215/60 is good to 130mph.

I don't think they are v rated for the speed factor, I think it is for the handling as a v rated is stiffer than lower speed rated tires.

I didn't have speed in mind. Car manufacturers design the suspension and handling specs of cars with the tire they originally installed. If you want to downgrade from V to H, I'm not sure if you'll notice any difference at all.
I personally have never done that since car manufacturers and tire shops don't recommend going to a lower rated tire as noted on page 11-27 in the manual.

FWIW - the tire size I'm interested in comes in v rated. Regardless, if anyone has experience with a larger tire size, please chime in with feedback.
The crosstrek comes with 225/55-17 which is 1.6" larger diameter

I just went to their website to buy a couple items and the site is down for maintenance until July 7th! I sure hope they extend the July 4th sale.

Do you have a hatchback? I feel it's a lil below average but I feel like the hatch may have something to do with it. Can't ever fully defog the back half during the winter either.

Yeah, I have the hatch.

Also, I have a black interior. The black soft touch dash positively radiates heat after sitting in the sun. I think it's enough to slow down the cooling off period.

I need to get some of those window cover things...
