I don't mean to attack you or anything, just wondering why it doesn't seem to phase you at all that you have to add oil while others do not.
because my car is consuming at 1qt per 11,000 miles, i feel that is perfectly normal, some oil has to get used otherwise not everything gets lubricated. I'm coming up on 25,000 miles and after my next trip will be at or above 28,000. At this point I'm really not too worried. in fact now that I think about it about 6-8 months ago I was using oil at about 1qt/7-8000 miles so my consumption has actually improved, all my UOA's show that my engine is perfectly healthy. I for sure based upon UOA's saw the engine still breaking in through 14,000 miles

our Jetta with 130,000 has used 1qt/3000 miles from the day we got it (28,000 miles). we just continue to add oil because it is very mechanically sound otherwise and a decent car.

I checked it before I left and I was at the full dot, and before adding oil was 1/4" below, not bad for 1700 miles and those temps!. I 100% blame the temps in this case, but I have another 2500+ mile trip planned in 3 weeks and I am undecided if i will change the oil before or after the trip so that is why I added oil.

also can't decide what kind of oil I want to go with, I'm not a big fan of Amsoil OE, it does seem to use a little bit more than when I was using Signature, but Signature is hard to justify unless I am going to an extended interval which I don't know if i really want to do that when still under the warranty, even with UOA's to prove the oil is doing good. I'm not worried, it is just the freak chance of what if....

so Amsoil XL or Signature, when I used XL before it was still breaking in so I don't think i gave it a fair evaluation, maybe I will try that again and next time I order oil (6-7months) I will get Signature again.
i have 3 qts of OE left, so I ordered 3 more quarts of that, will do 1 more change will OE before my upcoming trip. after that I will do 2 changes with XL, maybe on an 8500-10000 interval.

^^Is it normal/acceptable to have the sidewall of the tire flexed out like that?

I'm in the process as I'm typing this of draining out Amsoil OE, after which I will fill with Pennsoil Platinum. I'm not making the switch because I was unhappy with OE. It's simply that the Pennsoil is easier and cheaper to buy at Walmart, it's often on sale, and I've read good reviews of it.

Time to go pour in the Pennsoil....

No, although it's a popular trend people are following to get the widest possible wheel under their car without rubbing.

Don't forget to adjust the camber so it looks like it will fly away to space

Is there any benefit to having rims that are wider than the tires? I would only want to get wider rims in order to add wider tires, making the rims wider than the tires just for the sake of having wider rims makes no sense to me.

Hmmm. I'm not a fan. I don't like it cosmetically, and I have to believe that it stresses the tire in ways the tire engineers didn't intend.

I can't see any reputable tire shop doing that.

I'll bet. Yes, I always go through a mental check before I start the car (drain plug, new filter, new oil, dip stick in, filler cap on, etc.).

that is one reason I do my own changes, my parents brought their (then) almost new Toyota Sienna to the dealer and had an oil change done, the tech forgot to put the filler cap back in place...

the smoke stopped them on their drive home, and the mess under the hood on a practically brand new engine was not appreciated, to say the least.

It's a trend/style that tuners use to slam their cars as low as possible and have the widest possible rim.

It was when I was adding oil the other day, i forgot to put it back on because i got distracted for an hour doing other things, when i came back i only checked the level to ensure it was good and then closed the hood

all the oil i added (13oz) is what appears to be what was exhausted when i downshifted leaving the interstate after a 39 mile drive, it was only the smell that made me go "huh, thats not right"

needless to say a can of foaming engine degreaser and a pay and spray car wash and the engine compartment looks brand new again....

need my new oil to get here so i can change it

As someone who has never been a form over function kind of guy, I do not approve. But to each his or her own.

Agreed. Screwing up the ride, handling, and safety characteristics for the sake of aesthetics does not sound like a good idea. But then, I hear the modification market is pretty profitable.

I think there is a difference stretching front tires a little for clearance, as some higher end cars come a little stretched on front. Then there is putting 10's or 12's on a tire designed for an 8" wheel. It's a good idea for paddles on your sand rail, but not for a normal passenger car IMO- but to each their own.

Has anyone debadged their car as of yet? I did not see where anyone posted. I want to remove them all from the back for a clean look.

Default Front License Plate Mount

Where are people getting side mount brackets for the impreza 2012 2.0 at? are they all 70 to 80 bucks?

i assume to get the side mount, you'll need to install via tow hook? sturdy? does it rattle etc for those who have those installed?

ive seen the perrin and grimmspeed ones but not sure if they will fit since they dont say 2012+ Impreza 2.0 will fit...they mainly address the WRX and STI like every freaking aftermarket part ive tried looking for the car but can't find.

im still pissed my dealer drilled the plates into the bumper rather than using the OEM license plate holes smh.
