About 10 times.

I think I just drained it very thoroughly, it's only 6oz low.

I did drain it from a level surface this time, maybe that makes a difference

Price seems stable, but I'm still going to do it. The factory battery is probably fine for a winter in the south, but it is no good up here from December-February. 390CCA, lol

The factory battery got me through last winter (in western NY) with no issues, and my detached garage isn't heated.

Mine did too, but it was plugged in whenever possible, there were a few times it was not plugged in and I was doubtful it would start, but did eventually. The battery is just not powerful enough to handle a completely cold soaked (sitting up to a week) in sub zero temps

My new one is 740CCA and AGM so I should be fine

Diehard platinum (rebadged odyssey), group 35, 191.00 after tax.

Odyssey makes awesome batteries, I just can't justify the cost (almost 300). Plus this has 4 year free replacement

Interesting.

For those not wanting to spend almost $200 for a car battery, Consumer Reports' top-rated Group 35 battery is the EverStart MAXX-35N, sold at Walmart for $90 (and sometimes as low as $75). It has a 3-year replacement warranty, followed by a 2-year prorated warranty.

That's the way I'll go once it's time to replace my factory battery.

I love agm batteries, I wished deka/eastpenn made a group 35 because then I could of got one at carquest for about 120 like I did for our VW, but they don't. This is actually the only vehicle I own (3 cars and a motorcycle) that doesn't have an Eastpenn battery in.

Agm just is much more stable in this part of the country where temps range from -30 at the coldest to upper 90s over the course of the year.

And 4 year free replacement/ 10 years prorated is worth it to me. The last AGM I had in my Buick outlived the prorated warranty by 8 months( 9.5 years!) that as an old Optima red top before their quality went to crap

Yeah, I was just looking at Optima batteries on Amazon, but was seeing mixed reviews.

once Interstate bought them out, they cheapened something up because they don't last as long. obviously they made too good of a product and no one ever bought replacements

I have the battery tender on my new battery now just to make sure it is fully charged before I start driving on it, it might take a while at 0.5a/hr

oh and prorated is only 100 months, i read that wrong, either way if it lasts that long it is the life of the car for me

Alright folks. I know there's a lot of info on suspension, sway bars, and endlinks and such, but I'd like to hear your insight/recommendations for the kind of driving I do.

Mine's a daily driver that I like to whip around corners. Paved roads in this town are a little rough at times, so STi-esque suspension tends to be overkill for a DD. I just want to keep it a little flatter in turns/help my tires hold the road a little more on those S Curves.

Personally I think suspension might be overkill, not to mention I'm afraid of lowering my car at all. With the snow we get in the wintertime and the dirt/gravel roads I have some fun on, I don't want to lose what 5.7 inches I have between me and the ground.

I'm leaning towards just doing a 19mm swaybar in the rear and seeing how that goes. I've already got a stock swaybar on the rear (it's a Base model, so it originally had nothing back there) and I've heard that the 22mm is a little overkill for this car. I don't know what kind of endlinks I might consider, as I've heard the 19mm STi bar will work with the stock endlinks.

So what say you? I'm especially interested to hear personal experience with swaybar/suspension upgrades for not-boring daily-driving.

I've been quite pleased with the 19mm RSB upgrade (from the stock 16mm RSB) that I have on my Sport Premium.

From everything I've read so far on the RSB the 19mm makes handling near neutral, anything more can be a bit much.

I can't comment on suspension.

Well, just took our car in for service for a short laundry list of items:
Remote start recall
Loud noise coming out of the front bearings
Passenger Side Airbag shutting off when I sit my heavy ass in the seat. Doesn't happen to my wife or my mom. So they should be able to plug in and see that the sensor shut off while I was in it two weekends ago, right? I don't want them coming back to me saying they couldn't replicate it.

Batteries have gotten more expensive in the last few years.

On the red top Optimas- I bought one waay back when they came out. It was an AWESOME battery thay lasted lomger than the car I put it in. Only downside was that the battery was like 3x heavier than a normal battery and they were god aweful expensive.

That said - the stock battery does ok here in Fl, but I'd want an agm higher cca battery for anywhere that gets COLD. I want to upgrade mine just because its so cheap looking. It really reminds me of something that would have came in a ford pinto.
These cars afe very safe- thats one of the big selling points. But wouldnt a sealed battery be a bit safer in a collision?

Really? It looks like a pretty typical car battery to me.

If under-hood cosmetics matters to you, then I believe Subaru sells accessories such as fancy battery tie-downs and oil-fill caps. You might want to bling up your engine compartment with those too.

Dude im not talking about ricer accessories or bling.
I am merely statimg that the oem battery is an eyesore and looks cheap and very old.

Its literally the cheapest car battery fhi could find that would crank the car.

The black painted stamped battery hold down does just fine and looks typical, and the oil cap is perfectly fine. Why would anyone replace the oil cap?
