Has anyone added the OEM exhaust tip? I know it's not a major thing but I was thinking of ordering it for my car. Does it need to be screwed on or is something that slides over the exhaust?

Thanks!
My limited came with the tip. There is a bolt on it but the bolt head broke off because it was so rusted lol. But its still on there pretty tight.

I would probably get one a little flashier since I don't love the oval exhaust tips.

Yes, on the hatch it just tips right down behind the bumper. That's why the Moore axleback just has a matte black tip.

On the sedan, it's right in the open. I don't know how much the Subaru one is from the dealer, but if it's any more than $30, just go to the parts store and buy a high-quality double-walled tip. And clean it often. Same idea, but cheaper. Held on with 2 or 3 bolts, or you could get the same size inlet as your exhaust and get it welded on. It's whatevs.

Great, thank you!

Yeah, its about $30 for the OEM one so I think I'll probably just order that.

Word. The chrome usually lasts longer on the OEM pieces.. Word of advice: once a month, polish it up a tad. Use that Nevr-Dull stuff on it too. You'll be glad you did.

well, I did order the ATP carbon cabin filter, it arrived today. it looks a little thinner than the WIX one, but no thinner than the OEM one. will put it in at some point, maybe today

Edit: I put it in, seemed like a few less pleats then the wix. Also no matter what I did, I could not get it to lock in. It fits snug, but I would prefer if it kicked in like it's supposed too.

could call your dealer and ask. there is a rust/corrosion warranty so it might be under that and that is much longer than the basic bumper to bumper

Default CVT in the High Sierras does well

Until recently, i was one of those owners critical of the CVTs propensity to downshift on slight downslopes.

while i still find that behavior annoying on occasion, i came to appreciate how well the CVT worked while driving up and down some steep inclines this past week in the Sierras (up to 26% grade -- i'm not joking ore mistyping: Twenty-Six percent was posted at one location, over 20 at several other places along highway 108 -- give it a drive some time if you are out there)

yes, i did override the CVT and upshift on several occasions to get to a faster speed, but manual shifting while the shifter was in Drive worked very well. once i selected the gear i wanted, it stayed there for a long duration that worked well. even if it is a little agressive, the tendency for the CVT to downshift on steep grades was a welcomed change from the older automatics i've used (granted i have driven only MT prior to this car except for rentals with horrible automatics) which basically allowed one to accelerate rapidly and require manual shifting.

for the uphills, the CVT shined, too. it was rare that i chose to manually downshift to give myself more power. the CVT gave me the torque and power i needed when i wanted it. and this was all done with Air Conditioning on, and two adults plus backpacking gear in the car loading it down. (not a light load, but not heavy either)

overall, i'm impressed. i daresay, that while it wasn't perfect, this CVT is the best automatic transmission i've driven in the mountains. (again with the disclaimer that my prior experience with automatics has been with rental cars...ie, not necessarily high end cars with sophisticated transmissions)

Finally got the Perrin 22mm sway bar installed and tested on my car. Took all of 30 minutes to complete. The handling is now neutral for all intents and purposes, with very mild hints at oversteer and understeer depending on the conditions under hard cornering. Body roll is effectively eliminated entirely except under very hard driving, turn in response is improved and the car feels like it's more stable and tracks better than before. There is a very minor increase in road feel and harshness, but it's very minimal. For all intents and purposes the ride of the car is about the same as stock. THIS is how the car was meant to be originally I feel, before some safety committee messed that all up by not understanding what understeer actually does. At this point, the 19mm sway bar is mandatory, but the 22 is a good performance improvement that nets very significant rewards. I can honestly say that with the new sway bar and short shifter, this does classify as a sporty compact hatch. I'm no longer envious of the Ford Focus and Mazda 3 handling, this is undoubtedly better at this point.

So what's the final word on coil overs? Anything reliable yet? I need some good reviews. Also how about the wrx compatibility? It's been a while since I saw anything on it.

I'm unsure which color to get the hybrid in and until they announce it I don't even know if it will have all the crosstrek colors. Looks like it will be November before the reveal which does not surprise me. I'm looking at Spring before I buy so no big deal.

Hey everyone,

First time poster and subie owner without a lot of hands on car experience. If anyone had a few minutes to give me any advice/opinions on some grille damage I'd really appreciate it! Long story short I was backed into a few months ago by some POS and even though the damage is fairly minor, I wanted to make sure this won't turn into a bigger issue down the road. Here are a couple pics,

So basically my questions are;
-Is this a necessary fix (as in does this have any potential to further depreciate my car if left alone)?

-I really liked the look of the sport mesh grille (http://www.subarugenuineparts.com/pr...oducts_id=1860)
is this the best deal, and is this something I could install on my own/with some help from a buddy?

-I was quoted around 500$ from 2 different shops, looking around the forums this seems like a ripoff, agree/disagree?

Oh, and I plan on owning this car for a long time so I definitely don't mind putting some money into making sure it looks good and runs good for years to come. Any other advice/opinions appreciated, thanks!
