I think SOA dropped the ball having NO presence at the Wicked Big Meet today, I expected to see at least one of the test mules on display at America's largest gathering of Subaru owners.

Fail.

I really cant wait until november (and wait even longer to get one with the options that I actually want)

Subaru really dropped the ball on this. Why announce the car so early in the year when you cant even deliver until november?

Major commitment to the autoshow and there is NO way of predicting what happened.

Subaru dropped the ball on announcing a car before predicting a 9.0 earthquake that killed over 15,000 people and decimated the infrastructure for an entire country? Are you really that myopic? Seriously people, think before you put your foot in your mouth.

This car totally fits the bill for what I'm looking for as my next daily driver so an extra month or 2 of waiting isn't going to be a deal breaker.

Not that I have any new information, but thought I would pass along my discussion with a dealer here in the TC. The guy I talked to is well known in Subaru circles, and has a long-standing relationship with the distributors and has been to the factory in Japan. I don't want to say his name, but for those that have been in the Twin Cities for a while you know who I am talking about.

Anyway - he said that there is no change to the 2012 line versus the 2011. We will be able to place an order in the August time frame. He did say that they are running ahead of schedule and that it is possible that production would start in September. If that happens, we would be able to take delivery in October.

On another note - for those of you that are looking to buy new, look at becoming an IMBA member if you are not. www.imba.com Once you are a member for 6 months, you are entitled to a discount through IMBA on any new Subaru while usually equals 2% below invoice, plus you are still eligible for all Subaru incentives (financing, etc.) Can't beat that!

Not only do you get a car for 2% below invoice, but Subaru also donates $125 to IMBA. Win for everyone!

They brought a 2010 Legacy and Outback in 2009, and a Tribeca in 2006, and we had nearly half the gathering we had at recent WBMs.

The size of the meet does not determine their scheduled release dates for vehicles. The mule is not ready for close-up inspection (probably because the exterior parts aren't finalized and the interior specs are still a secret).

What are you talking about? SNE had a whole area with the current lineup. They are the major sponsor every year.

SOA is never there bc they have nothing to do with the New England area.

1 year they brought the 08 WRX hatch test vehicle that didn't have a textured interior.

Keep in mind the event was in New England where SOA has to yield to SNE (Subaru of New England purchases cars direct from Fuji for New England)

Duh. That's my point.

Do I have to spell it out?

1) This is an Impreza thread. Not a WRX/STI Thread.

2) We've already been told numerous times the latter aformentioned models (that means the WRX/STI if you are unsure) are not changing. not only in this thread, but in various other threads in the News section.

However, we seem to have at least one person/week talk (Twitch_PA being the new customer) bringing it up, when it has been rehashed more than several times.

I apologize.

I had been reading so many threads, I thought you were referring to the coupe. It would have been nice to have the new Imprezas there. I still wouldn't call it fail. Since it IS being delayed, I think they are not going to be "pushing" the product too hard right now. They'll give it a bit more time.

Strong word. I think it is still up to the individual dealerships to honor that.

True enough - I just read the fine print on the IMBA site and it says:

"All new Subaru models are included, subject to availability and dealer discretion. From time to time, new models may be temporarily excluded due to availability."

Hopefully my dealers word is good He told me the discount was "set in stone" If not, then he lost a sale!

I'm sure some dealers would try to say the WRX/STi are not inclusive, but i'm almost just as sure that there's plenty of dealers who will still do it.
