not sure where you live, but around here that **** is treated pretty well. I'd rather drink tap water than rain water, that's for sure.

I paid $45 for mine, it was part of a rain barrel workshop at Rutgers University. They give you the supplies and give you tips on how to use them, and they try pushing some green initiatives on you. Then you drill two holes and slap it together.

Beats paying $75 for the same thing.
