Default lsX and rwd swap to 05 sti? anyone besides Civette?

im getting tired of having a built ej257, and the money ive wasted having the short block built, fp green etc i could done this swap. Has anyone else besides civette completed a ls1/2/6/7/X series motor and rwd swap? cause Im debating once i pay off my car to do this swap or just trade now for a reliable car like a lexus ls430 and just go vip style....

I vote do the swap. I would love to just don't have that kind of experience/knowledge to do it all by myself and everyone/shop I've talked to about it is NOT interested in taking on a project like that. I've done a lot of research on it and there was one wrx that was being passed around for a few years (no one wanted to finish the project) and it just disappeared. I've tried talking to Civette about it but couldn't get him to go into detail about it when I would ask specific questions and haven't seen any pics or videos of that car actually running good and beating on it like the civic with the ls1.

I think the most difficult part would be the tunnel b.c. the Subaru tunnel is very small and if you were to put any transmission into it that would support and LSX would hang about 2" above the ground at stock ride height. I could be wrong since I have not done the swap but I have done lots of research on it because I would love to do it!

i know what wrx youre talking about. its a blue bugeye and it had a shortened rear end, and a full cage etc. I wish they couldve finished it. there is a yellow bugeye with the swap too, but idk if its done. I mean the motor fits obviously, but the t56 is a relatively big transmission for the sti tunnel. plus I already have an r180 diff and could get an r200 off some 240sx. And having to do a rwd swap, since the trailblazer ss drivetrain would not fit under the unibody :P dude it would be sick if someone took a older forester/legacy/ wrx wagon, and did a full trailblazer ss swap!

I wouldn't suggest keeping an r180 if you're planning on going rwd. I have a friend with a relatively stock sti swap and he breaks axles left and right!

I know this is probably stupid, but is the LsX motor decidedly toolong vs. the ej series to fit infront of the sti tranny and maintain AWD? I've seen the youtube vids of the wrx you speak of and there was also a legacy done in the middle east, but they're both Rwd.

Please if you're just going to assume and don't KNOW then don't answer,
but if you have taken rough measurements of the 2 engines and considerd fabrication/cutting then by all means, enlighten us

R200 is what I'm doing in mine, plus there are a few others that have already done it. You can find the diff itself for less than $50, but getting axles that work is a little more challenging. Not to mention expensive.

there was a Legacy GT that got and LS rwd swap done too...I think it was in the middle east though. I think it would be a cool and very fun swap...need more tire

man I want to do the swap to my car now but I have other priorities... I wonder if one were to find a t56 or custom transmission that has been shortened with a custom bell housing adapter. It might be possible to retain awd.
