Default 99' Legacy: STi Brembo Upgrade

I have a 99' legacy 30th anniversary edition, and i'm looking to do some upgrades. I assume more than a handful of people have done this upgrade. Does anyone have a quick parts list of whats needed to install the 04 Sti Brembo brakes on a 99 legacy?

Also, was wondering if they will fit behind 16" GT rims? I plan to run a set of sti BBS wheels on the car with the brakes, but it would be nice to be able to run a set of 16" OEM rims for winter times.

I know suspension bits interchange on alot of subaru's. So hopefully do a brake upgrade wouldn't be a huge deal.

Does the master cylinder have to be replaced with sti? Is that possible? How about ABS pump? I appreciate any constructive comments that will help me in my quest of upgrades.

There is nothing special about the Legacy's brakes as compared to the Impreza or Forester of the same generation. I'm sure answers to all of your questions are readily available in the Brakes, Steering & Suspension forum.

And no, the 16" wheels won't even come remotely close to clearing the Brembos.

As Patrick said the Brembo's won't fit your Legacy GT 16s.

In order to make the STI 17s work with yout Legacy GT hubs you will need to get a set from an 04. They were the only year to have the 5x100 bolt pattern. Otherwise you will need to find a set of 05+ hubs and wheels with matching 5X114.3 bolt patterns.

Your other option is to buy an aftermarket brake kit and a set of 17 or 18 inch wheels to fit them.

Good luck, have fun modding!!

By the way I have a spare set of 05 STI Hubs if anyone needs them

Why don't you run the 06-07 WRX brakes. You can use 16" wheels and it doesn't require and CV or Diff modifications.
