MRT Master Cylinder Support Bracket
The product can be purchased at AllSubaru.com or http://www.mrtrally.com.au/shop/ Under "Under Body", Brake Components and then page 2 at the bottom.
I installed the MRT Master Cylinder Support Bracket this weekend on my '02 WRX (everything else brake related is stock). You can definitely feel a difference when threshold braking. It's easier to get to the ABS. A lot of the "spongy" feeling in the last half of pedal travel is actually the firewall flexing. In there instructions, they suggest to test the firewall flex by repeatedly pressing the brake pedal with the engine off and then to test again once the bracket it fitted. Sure enough, no more firewall flex!! A little more engine vibration can be felt from the pedals and a little in the steering wheel. Definitely a good modification for the money.
Yes, the Master Cylinder Support Bracket does fit the OE mounts. BUT..it interferes with the mounting location for the fuel filter!
Take a look at the picture of the brake bracket. The two mounting bolts to the front of the car, securing the red bracket, are the same bolts that are used to secure the fuel filter bracket. You mount the Master Cylinder Support Bracket and then the Fuel Filter bracket on top of it and bolt it all down. That all fits fine. When you go to re-install the fuel filter, you'll find that the gold colored piece that extends from the red bracket to the end of the master cylinder prevents the fuel filter from sitting completely down in it's mounting location. The gold piece has a wide lip on the top edge that creates a shelf which stops the fuel filter from sitting completely down. It keeps the filter about 1.5" higher than normal, bringing it too close for comfort to the hood liner when closed. The windshield washer tank and the strut tower almost completely enclose the fuel filter, so there is not much room to bend/re-arrange the fuel filter bracket to clear the end of the Master Cylinder Support Bracket.
I bent the fuel filter mounting bracket back towards the strut tower to help give it more clearance between the hood and got a longer piece of fuel tubing to fit. Still would like to find a better solution though.
