Default Fiat developing all-new four-door B-segment car for U.S., arriving in 2013

Quote:
This new model is still in development stages, and is expected to arrive in 2013, but we do know that it has been dubbed “Project L-Zero,” and it will be a B-segment car with fourdoors, according to confirmation by Motor Trend. The confirmation comes from Laura Soave, head of Fiat’s North American division, and Soave says the new model will be the result of a joint effort between Chrysler folks in Auburn Hills, and Fiat folks in Turin, Italy.

Soave suggested the car is being developed with the U.S. consumers in mind, explaining that since Fiat hasn’t sold vehicles in over 25 years in the U.S., the automaker hopes to take advantage of that unique situation by positioning the brand exactly how they wish. To do that, Fiat will be introducing a series of 500 variants, ranging from drop-tops, to electric versions, to high-performance Abarth models, all before project dubbed “L-Zero” reveals itself in production form for 2013.

So Fiat has not sold cars here in 25 years and they are using Chryslers expertise to help guide them on how to sell cars here.

Anybody else see something wrong with this thought process.

FIAT/Chrysler seems as screwed up and dysfunctional as Daimler/Chrysler ever was.

Are they just inventing a new plan every month?

I'm not exactly on the forefront or in the auto industry at all, but I've seen little of Fiat outside internet blogs. Just story after story without any physical evidence of anything. If 00's are on sale, I certainly havent seen any in my area at all. Certainly not in my snow town, but not in neighboring Reno, Carson, or the foothills. Busier on the internet than in the factory and sales floor?
