If you REALLY need good rain performance, get 452's. They are excellent in the rain. If I had to recommend a tire at this point, I'd say 452's, but only because I don't have enough milesin the ss595's to recommend them, they aren't even through wearing off the grease yet. I KNOW the 452's are good in nearly every condition, and US prefer's them to the V12, which you've used.

The s595 feels very compliant and squirmy. I checked air pressure, and they are at 37psi. Max psi is 37, very low. Of course many great tires feel soft and squirmy at first, so I'll reserve judgement. 451's took 1000 miles or so to cure.
and that may be too much pressure

different tires like different pressures....try lower first

Squirmy-ness might be caused by your tire pressure. I typically run 32psi front 34psi rear on my ss595's.

I'm 99% sure it's just the newness and tire mould release grease. The little rubber nubbins aren't even all off yet.

Ok, I'm looking at the 595 Evo.

I'm running the stock 6.5" width rim on my 2005 Saab 92x Aero.

You guys think a 195 width tire will fit ok?

Ok thanks Uncle Scotty.

I think I will give these a try. Stock size on my car is 205/55/16 of course.

And the Evo is a bit stiffer and more aggressive than the ss595, correct? (Now just called the 595, per federal's web site.)

Quote:
Federal's extremely successful UHP, the former ss595, has been repositioned and renamed simply as the 595.

How are these compared to Hankook Rs3 or Star Specs in terms of Wear? Grip? Rain?

Grip is not comparable, I can guarantee you that, but it costs less than half.

Yep, if you want a comparable tire to the star spec look into the EVO or RSR.

I am considering getting the 595RS-R or the 595EVO for my 06 STI in 225/45/17 size.
To the people who have/ had these tires .. how many miles did you get out of these tires and how many autoX/ track days did you do on these?

And exactly how long did your tires last?

Also,
onlinetires.com has the RS-R in 235/45/17 but citytireonline.com has them at $121/ ea for the same size.

Is onlinetires.com a legit place to get them assuming they have the tires in stock?

I had no issues, just place your order over the phone so as to avoid ordering online and them not being actually in stock.

Now much, 10K or so. They are holding up quite well. The RSR's will have better grip (stiffer sidewall w R-compound) but naturally wear faster. The EVO's are a good compromise IMO - Very good grip with good wear. Wet perf. is not bad too.

citytireonline is a vendor, not onlinetires.
