I have a phase II EJ22 car that is MAF. I'm working on a drop-in motor and need to pick up an extra IM to simplify the switch. Phase II EJ22 intake manifolds aren't the most plentiful, but some places list SOHC phase II EJ25 IMs as fitting my car too. Is that a typo or will a SOHC EJ25 IM fit phase II EJ22 heads?
I know DOHC IM is a completely different animal, but I have never had any parts from a SOHC 2.5 in my hands. Anybody know for a fact that a SOHC EJ25 IM will or will not work with EJ22 heads?

All the phase II NA manifolds are compatible.

05+ are superior design, but might be harder to come by.

Well that is certainly helpful information. Being MAF doesn't matter?
So what's the deal with the plastic IM? Is it an option as well for me? Thanks for the replies. |

You'll want to find a '99 RS manifold to keep things simple.

As said earlier, the phase II stuff will interchange. The plastic piece will bolt on, but needs modded for cable throttle body. The 05+ manifold is the same way but needs some other work too.
I've got a manifold that'll work for ya hangin in the garage if you're interested. Jay |

Yeah, I just want a straight bolt-on that requires no modding.
Does your IM still have the fuel rails on it? What are you asking for it? Are you needing any misc. parts yourself? Quote:

Still has the rails but the injectors are not in. I could use a rust free rear subframe or a phase II EJ25 crankshaft that doesn't need machined.....

I have a 2000 OBS shell from South Carolina waiting to have the underneath pulled off...but I won't be getting to that any time before July. You're more than welcome to come to KY with a wrench and a can of PB Blaster.

It will not make any difference whatsoever to performance. Really, nothing will other than cams, header, headwork, and higher compression plus tuning. Nothing on the intake side is necessary until you really start building.

how will getting a new intake manifold simplify the swap?
it takes minutes (~10 of them) to swap intake manifolds between motors. Leave everything on it (coil, wires, vacuum lines, fuel stuff) and just undo the 8 bolts. Replace the gaskets, away you go. then you won't have to worry about a plug being different or anything like that. <<<--- swapped 99 ej22 with 2003 ej25 using original manifold/wiring. |
