Default KTM X-Bow On Sale In America

The KTM X-Bow, perhaps the only car more bonkers than the Ariel Atom, will finally be coming to the United States, and like other formerly forbidden fruit, a bit of trickery is required to get the car legally imported.

Quote:
While KTM will build the cars to the customers specifications, the vehicle must be shipped and sold without any kind of drivetrain, to allow for registration as a “kit car”. British Racing Group, a Pennsylvania based company, will supply you with the necessary Audi 2.0T drivetrain, but no price was given for the component. Despite putting out a tame-sounding 240 horsepower, the X-Bow is good for a sub-4 second 0-60 mph sprint, is capable of pulling 1.5g on the skidpad and will stop from 60-0 mph in only 99 feet. And you get to wear a cool helmet while you drive it!

That could be a lot of fun. The Audi 2.0T part worries me a little bit since my experience with Audi is their crap breaks all the time. I'd almost like to see if something else would fit in there.

Yeah, but in my experience Audi's problem is usually with electronics not mechanics.

Hopefully that motor doesn't have the overheating fuel pump that has plagued other 2.0T motors (GTi).

No. Legit kit cars are sold like this. Kaizo Skylines were made to appear as a kit car. They were used cars with Japanese VINs that were disassembled, brought to the US, then reassembled. Legal kit cars are sold new as just a chassis from the manufacturer or distributor.

I've actually had the opportunity to ride along in a X-bow while I was at the Ring a couple summers back and all I can say is ZOMG!!! I'll have to dig up some pictures.

It'll be cool to see these come state side.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to use a friend's Ducati 1098s for a weekend. What does this have to do with the KTM......When I gave the bike back to my friend (in the same condition as I took it, less the 600km's on the odo), my exact words to my him (it's on video tape and my friend reminds me of this all the time) were, "I can't believe this #$%*ing thing is street legal!".

I can imagine the KTM, from what I read, would be the same experience.

If you felt that way with the 1098 you would fill like a felon on the run with one of their (KTM) supermotos......... So much illegal fun to be had.

Two and both were a POS. The even bigger concern was the way Audi/VW treated me I talked to them about have a car that was in the shop 9 times in the first 8 months that I owed it, all for warranty work.

Would you like to hear about my four friends that also had nothing but issues with their Audi's?

I have a 2.0t in my GTI and I beat the ****ing piss out of it.

77K miles, 3 track days, and like 40 AutoX. All of this spun at 21PSI and not the stock 14 on the stock turbo... It will be just fine in this car.

Plus the xbow uses the "more built" one with forged internals and a larger turbo.

Is anyone bitching about the motor even buying one of these things?!? I'd take the Atom over this any day.

no need for a new thread, so here it is, transform your XBow into a Stratos, more or less, the Montenergy Stratosferica

and that´s how you get in and out
