I am going to retract my Muira to Countach and put it at a bigger change than Countach to Diablo or Diablo to Murci. Note that this is a Murci SV and not a 640 car, which is much less agressive.

After seeing that video I am also going to take my statement a step further and say the jump from murc to aventador is the least noticeable change in the history of the Lamborghini line up.

Someone should get on that.

Man, the flood of first drives has really upped the number of images available of the Aventador.

For whatever reason, the Murcielago never "did it" for me the same way the Miura, Countach, and Diablo did, but the Aventador does again in a big, big way.

As far as the evolution of looks go, I can kinda see both sides. There are certain aerodynamic/computer modeling cues that haven't really changed since cars in the early 2000s. The evolution of shapes has been much less noteworthy than in prior decades. To my eye, though, there are enough changes and tweaks to completely transform the look of the car, and the Aventador looks no more like a Murcie to me than a Murcie looks like a Diablo.

Not that I'm in the market for hypercars, nor am I likely to be closely tracking the depreciation schedule in a few years, but I couldn't see myself buying anything else instead if I were. It hits all the right buttons for such a toy.

Which is ironic, considering that while I love the Gallardo for many of the same reasons, I'd have a real hard time buying one over a MP4-12C or 458, even though neither is as extroverted. I guess the Aventador just has it all turned up past 11 while the Gallardo's looks, sounds, and insanity just aren't compelling enough against its competition.

interesting, Oakley has modified some Aventadors:

Quote:
We have tremendous respect for tuning firms that are able to make a car like the Lamborghini Aventador that much more amazing. Not many have been able to pull it off, but after Oakley Design’s work on the Ferrari 458 Italia, we knew they’d be one of the few to make it happen. To illustrate just how fantastic this package fits with the Aventador, Oakley Design will only be producing five units, and three of them have already been sold.

Focusing on the looks alone, anyone can see the sportier appearance given by the addition of a larger airbox, an intake feed pipe diameter, a titanium exhaust system, and a new set of lighter and wider wheels. Those additions only hint at what’s going on under the hood. Oakley Design worked up the Aventador so that it became 253 lbs lighter than the standard model and, with the help of an ECU remap, 60 HP stronger. The V12 engine now delivers a whopping 760 HP, up from the standard 700 HP. Another impressive feature for this package is that the power will be sent to the rear wheels; no all-wheel drive for this baby. No word yet on how these extra 60 ponies and their delivery will affect the car’s performance, but expect to see a slightly better 0-60 mph time than the 2.9 seconds provided from the factory model.

Definitely not going to achieve a better 0-60 time.

760hp, rwd, -253lbs. Completely insane/amazing!
