Which one will give you the most horsepower? I doubt anyone can say EXACTLY which gives you the most gains.

However, there are several out there in various degrees of quality. The 1.8L motor is, as far as intakes go, pretty much the same as all MAF Subaru motors...so any intake that deals with a MAF should work...and there are actually a lot out there.

Did I get that right? I keep forgetting... 2000 and up = MAP, 1999 and down = MAF...correct?

Just remove your fender silencer for right now. That will give your car a huge shot in the pants power wise. (seriously)

For the most part, yes.

Intakes really aren't something that is extremely car specific. It's just a pipe and filter that replaces the stock pipes and filter. Granted there is (or can be) a lot of science and engineering behind them but most of us just want more power. So any intake should fit, or at least will be able to be modified to fit better.

You may want to stay away from a huge 3 inch intake. But that's just my opinion...that large a tube wouldn't promote as good a flow velocity for the smaller 1.8L motor... 2.5 or even 2.25 might be better...but that's my weak sauce engineering skillz.

Yes, it will work. The 99 is a MAF based car, same as the older 1.8 litre engines.

GanzFlow seems to be the best bang for your buck. Ordered mine two weeks ago, not in yet and i haven't heard a word from them. It seems to be backorderd I hear, but good things come to those who wait
