In fact, if our cars can pull 1.8x sixty foots, i would have to be in the car when it does it, cause its pretty hard to believe. My best was 2.01 and i had about five 2.0x 60's. I went down the track about 12 times, and could pull a 1.9x.

Here are some timeslips

60'... 2.019 2.056 2.102 2.049 2.029
330... 5.957 6.006 6.034 5.988 5.993
1/8... 9.276 9.328 9.325 9.291 9.319
MPH... 73.91 74.13 74.80 74.16 74.04
1000'...12.115 12.181 12.143 12.125 12.176
1/4... 14.533 14.596 14.538 14.538 14.616
MPH...92.58 92.84 93.68 93.00 91.48

Keep practicing. I know its frusterating. The car will do 1.8's no problem. You are probably slip launching it. You are consistant. I will say that. Is the car bone stock with stock weight? This means not a single mod....

Nice job man. Very consistant times. What mods are you running? I also went to the track a few days ago for the first time. My best times were:

R/T: 668
60': 1.958
330: 5.703
1/8: 8.833
MPH: 78.25
1000: 11.521
1/4: 13.814
MPH: 97.94

This was done at almost 6000' above sea level.

Depending on how much boost the plastic T gave you... The car should be running faster with those mods. Its in the launch. I know this because your MPH is not slow at the end. It indicates the car has a low 14 -14 flat in it on a perfect run. If you add a $7 MBC and boost gauge you should be able to run high 13's easy.

Work on that launch. The car as it sits outside will sixy ft in the 1.8's easy.

Default For comparison purposes

This was today at US 41 in Morocco, IN at a track rental for my other car club.

Mods: K&N drop in filter, air silencer removed, 3/16" connector, 17" Rota Subzeros. 4 best runs:

60ft-------1.972---1.970---1.994-----1.984
1/8 ET-----9.154---9.200---9.170-----9.202
1/8 MPH---75.10---75.13---75.00-----75.00
1/4 ET----14.412--14.444--14.422---14.448
1/4 MPH---92.41---93.20---92.85-----92.54

And (3) 14.6's at low 92.x with 2.1x 60' times. Temp today was 81 degrees, barometer at 29.9.

Launch technique: Bringing the revs up to 4500-5000 rpm and then standing on the gas while slipping the clutch to keep the tach around 4000+. I seemed to get better mph when I didn't run it to redline in 2nd and 3rd, instead shifting at about 6400-6500. I'd probably benefit from watching a few of you guys sometime to see what it takes to get a 1.8 60' time on the launch...

Anyway, the V8 guys were impressed, especially when several of them figured it was a 16 second car before they saw it run.

I used a plastic one T instead of the brass connector. Does the same thing.. Dont use any of the stock stuff anymore. You can make yourself a Bleed boost controler for $5 and a ball and spring type for $7.

Go to home depot or an ACE hardware and purchase a small brass needle valvle with the right hose barbs to fit your vac lines. Unhook the line that runs to the Factory boost solenoid and cap it. Hook once side to the valve. The other side of the valve is unhooked... Close the valve all the way for 8 psi. Crack it open for desired boost. You must have a gauge... Less is more.. Only run 15 on pump fuel and 16 with some race unleaded.

I like the Bleed as it spools a bit slower in the middle. If you are using puny stock turbo I would do the bleed. You need a Boost gauge and an EGT gauge to do this safely. You can turn your boost to 12. Reset the ECU. Drive to the track. Then turn boost up to 15.5 to 16 psi with a few gallons of unleaded race fuel. That will get you into the 13's. Or, at least it did for me. Running lower boost on a reset ECU causes the ECU to set advance nice and high. Then, When you turn the boost up with the race fuel you make more power...

Now a days you can just get Vishnu Stage 0 and make more power, much safer. But, If you have gauges and are willing to watch things Cheapo MBC's work for drag racing. I did it as did many of the other guys on this board.

Well I got back from the track last night after FINALLY running consistent.

I found the launch was the key to getting lower times. I have a VF30, STi injectors, Walbro fuel pump, a Link ECU, Turbo Back, and Intake....blah blah blah.

I've tuned the Link myself with my wide-band o2 and I'm pretty happy so far. The best I could pull prior to fixing my launch was a 14.0......ya, pretty crappy.

Last night I managed to get a 13.65 @ 99Mph with 1.87 60' FINALLY!!! I cracked out two 13.7's and two more 13.6's. Now that I have the launch nailed I'm happy.

I'm at 2400ft which means (some say) I should be ~0.5 seconds faster at sea level (13.1 or 12.9) or so. I'm running about 18psi with great results so far

Keep practicing

Scoobiesnax,

Grats on the times! What kind of launch techniques were you using?
