approx. how much do you think insurance would be? i am 16 yes, but i am going through an insurance company my dad more or less owns...i think ill be ok...i mean, not free insurance, but ill only get liability and comp. with a $500 deductible probably. that cant be more than $100 a month, which if it was id be fine...

i have looked at some craigslist, desmoines has all of theirs over priced, ill check Minneapolis next.

idk what Ramsey is haha, but if i find out ill stay away.

i dont think im a know it all, i dont know anything lol, thats all i know. I am versed in the art of the chevy i drive now, but i know absolutely nothing about subbies, ive read through a lot of tech discussion and it goes like 10 feet over my head.

i will look into the street survival! it sounds like it would help a ton, once again, im not a know it all, but i am definite i know how to drive the car i drive, or i dont drive it... when i am driving, i drive within my ability, if i feel like im out of bounds, i slow down. like i said tho, im going to baby this thing, i dont think im ever going to WOT, ill try not to atleast.

thanks for replying nice to talk to someone that I could potentially meet with and talk with in person

Not possible. But if it is, don't bother wasting your money on a turbo car if you intend to drive it without boost.

My friend/roomate looked into an 02 WRX with 135k on it, about 4 months ago. His insurance on his Cavelier was 22 bucks a month for comp/collision. He's a 24yr old male, with only 1 speeding ticket on record. If he were to buy it on loan, it would have to be full coverage. His cheap-ass insurace jumped from 22 bucks a month to $160/month. With that said, and the fact that you're almost 10 years younger, I have a feeling you'll be looking at at least that, if not more. The only thing that may save you is that you can get a discount through your dad.

If you have any amount of a loan on it, the loan company will require proof of full insurance coverage, so you will have to get collision as well. Definitely get a quote before you buy one!

i will ask my dad tonight, he definitely will know...i am more than sure i can afford it though.

and i am not for sure on if you are correct on that, i took out a 5k loan on my monte, it was practically a new car...they didnt require any proof of insurance, by the way the loan company is the local bank, which my dad has very good connections in...ie. my interest rate was going to be 15% and my dad talked to them about it and got it down below 5%...

last hour of the day, i get out in less than an hour going to the dealer right after

I got my WRX about a year ago and came from a RS. I loved the RS as it was a great car. I am 27 with a great driving record (knock on wood). My monthly insurance is just under $100 a month. The RS was about half that. Even if your dad is listed as the primary driver, simply having you in the household will jack the insurance rates way up. I'd be willing to bet money that the insurance rate on the WRX will be well over $100 a month.

That is why I think sticking with a RS will be a good idea. Cheaper insurance, and will keep you out of trouble. Going WOT every day in your current car is a great way to cause your insurance rates to skyrocket. Get a lower power, lower mileage RS that is reliable. You aren't going to find a reliable WRX for $4k. AMHIK

i was absolutely not looking for a WRX for 4k, i was looking more towards the 8-10k range, id like a 2002-05
i really dont think its going to be all that much, it is through local companies, with local connections, its not a huge insurance company that runs like clock work...

we will see though! i am not a little rich stupid kid like some of you are probably thinking, i love cars, i work for my love...almost 30 hours a week

Gesh guys don't scare the kid about insurance haha, my insurance isn't high at all for full coverage at 587 for 6months with good overall coverage. His won't be that low but I don't think rates are that bad at all these days. Btw buy my 04 wrx so I can get a 2011 already!

i would prefer to buy a 04 wrx...but it just seems more reasonable for me to buy a 04 2.5rs...
as in more money saved so i can do mods to it, and do the mods right!

i think id only buy a wrx if i got a quote from my insurance first and went to the bank to see how big of a loan i could take out, also id need to know it wasnt trashed...if it was used, but not completely trashed...id probably want it more

a rs just seems more reasonable to me i guess

As someone else on here found out, the bank will only give you a loan for up to the NADA value. You're on your own for taxes and licensing.

As for mods, if you're buying a RS, I'd say stick to the suspension upgrades. Swap out the cat-back if you want the pronounced Subaru sound, but engine mods won't get you much for the money on a NA car.

my secret plan includes a RS with a turbo in the future...thats why it makes sense to me...more money for more saving and bigger things to save up for.

i think im going to be aiming for a 04-05 instead of a 02-03
