Did anybody notice that the last 2 days of Nasioc is gone. My part out thread all my PM's about my parts for sale everything. Got to enter everything again.

Also Sat and Sun I am having a Swap Meet for those of you that can come over and help. I am trying to set some kind of record for the fastest full swap. The doner car went to the crusher today on the back of a flat bed and the wagon is in for surgery

Sorry I missed the meet. Tried to get out at lunch, but I was too busy. Sounds like lots of bugeyes made it. Hopefully next month an OBP Legacy will start showing up again. Maybe we could have the meet at Tonic in case I need to just roll it down the street. No more Pete meets? Sad face.

hey, i was looking in your partout thread and saw the drivers side seat was torn to crap. Do you think it would be repairable? Wondering if I could take all the seats. I completely forgot that with a little modification, the rear seats fit in my car, and the front bolt in. I could have a complete interior. I might stop by saturday just because i wanna see everything...

and help out of course....

From what I read when I was thinking about doing it to my car, oven >> heat gun. Using a heat gun makes it very hard to not melt the plastic case.

x2 on this. Every forum I have ever been on where people seperate headlight housings they use an over with better results.

Nice turn out for the meet last night! Lots of bug eyes and Graham, that car is looking and sounding awesome! I am very envious!

Couple questions for you all:

- Pete and Ed, you guys were joking about a detailing product for black trim. What was that? Is it "Back to Black"?

- For you autocrossers: Ok, thinking about maybe doing one or two this year. For the Marshalltown ones, especially with the Mustang club, nothing other than a license, helmet, etc is needed, right? What is the current Snell/M rating a helmet must meet to be used? For some of the other events, do you have to join the DMVR or SCCA to drive in those events?

Have a great Thursday you all!

To race with DMVR all you need is a drivers license and a car. We have loaner helmets and you do not have to be a member.

If I hear back to black one more time...

You are correct for the Mustang club races at Marshalltown. You don't have to join SCCA to run their autocrosses, but you have to pay more per race if you aren't a member.

I don't know what helmet rating they require for any of the events.

Thanks! I do have a helmet, but just want to make sure it meets current specs as it is a little bit older helmet from my motorcycle days a few years back.

So, how many on here have their SCCA license?

Eric, it is indeed called Back to Black by Mothers. You can find it at autozone/advance auto parts etc. and as you may have guessed, I highly recommend it despite taking a lot of crap for promoting it like there's no tomorrow haha.

I think for helmet ratings it has to be SNELL 2005 or newer? I could be way off though. I think there are quite a few helmets that are both SNELL and DOT approved to be safe.

But yes, borrowing is a valid option. If you are thinking of doing it more regularly, you could pick up a cheap one fairly easily. HJC and KBC are pretty solid middle-of-the-range helmets that won't empty your wallet

I'm an SCCA member. I think Scott and Rob are as well. Can't remember who else.

It is good stuff. I got it after Pete's recommendation and it works pretty well. I need to go over the WRX with it in a few places and see if I can pretty up the car a bit. I'll try to remember to do before and after shots.

My helmet is a Shoei that I got back in like 2001 or 2002 or so. I know they recommend replacement like every 5-7 years or so (or something like that) due to breakdown of internal materials that help absorb impact.

It is a Snell/DOT approved helmet, but could not find anywhere on it what year it is...

EDIT: Never mind, found the sticker in there. It is a M2000 with November 2000 build date. Man, over 10 years old...

Zak: maybe don't post the cruise route on the internet for everyone to see. Print it and hand out maps at the meet. Also, I wasn't at the IC meet, but people doing highway pulls, drifting, and street racing should get pulled over IMO.

I'm by far not in charge. I don't condone any of that... I was with the "Slow" Group that abided by the law and didn't get messed with. What I posted was just the info off the FB meet page, sorry for any confusion.

The side note was put in my me, that was the only thing I personally contributed to that post.

Here's the site for the NQS Marshalltown autocross http://nqsperformance.com/AutocrossSeries2011.aspx

I think an M rating is fine. SCCA is something like M2005. Nobody at M'town is going to care as long as it doesn't look like it's from the 60's.
