Started as a high pitched whine (not metallic) which would stop with brake pressure and independent of wheel turn (reason I re-did the brakes in the first place).

Had this metallic (like the rotors rubbing on the shield) kinda noise during the brake switch out process (only when I turned) about 2-3 months ago which went away after the last pieces were replaced.

As of three days ago, the metallic noise reared its ugly head when I would make turns. I cannot determine which corner it is coming from exactly but think it is the rear(s). No abnormal dust of debris on the wheels nor rough edges on the rotors. I am hoping it is in the breaking system and not the bearing(s).

I would greatly appreciate any advice or hands on evaluation.
Beer and/or tools on hand!
Sounds like wheel bearings, If it is and you drive on them too much they can wear out the hub. New wheel bearings and seals are around $65 at Orielys. I have a bearing press and can help, but it is a full race weekend this weekend.

Very cool. I am going to try hook up with UniqueTII in Ankeny tonight for a diagnosis and if it is indeed the bearings I would appreciate your help when you could find the time. I will let you know.

Got new knuckles overnighted from Fred Beans for the same price as ramsey would have charged for a couple days out. All the new bushings are in and waiting for the knuckles to get here.... Hope I can make my alignment appt. today!

Good luck, Scott. Fred Beans really comes through when you ask them to!

Nick, I imagine we'll be in the garage around 5 or 6. Cory took the day off so he'll be around all day.

I got her for $7800 with 5800 miles and that included a full stainless Yoshimura exhaust and power commander. I got a hell of a deal. The guy I bought it from was in the process of building a twin turbo 2001 corvette w/ ~750whp. That dude knew how to live! lol

There is a Ducati 916 on craigslist, just saying

That is a sweet deal. And I would love a cafe racer. Was watching Mad Max movie the other day and reminded how cool that look is! Or could just buy new, although they are a touch down on power for my liking:

But if I was to buy another bike I really think I might go this route and do some more touring and adventuring with it:

A RD400 would be a fun project. That site looks like it could offer up some good ideas. I love reading the build threads on DoTheTon and seeing how guys get around problems and design certain parts of the bike. My favorite build thread is of this bike:

Lol...one of the reasons it is a good idea to have a good stereo in a car.

Not watching the Boston vs. Vancouver game tonight?

Wow. What is Ramsey's deal? Glad you are getting your car taken care of Scott. Does this mean you'll be racing tomorrow?

Probably not. I don't really watch tv, and I stopped watching hockey this year after the Blues lost hold of first place in the first month of the season . I have watched a few periods of playoff games, though.

I assume people want to meet at the Casey's again and leave promptly at 8am for Marshalltown tomorrow?

I've been watching most of the playoffs since the semi's. We are having a playoff party at a guy's house from my Wednesday team. Should be a fun time. Watching Tim Thomas energized me and I played a rediculous game this past Wednesday. We still lost terribly, but I definitely made a bunch of saves that I normally would have let past me because of the adjustment in my style.

I figured we'd leave at the normal time from the Casey's in Bondurant. I'll try to be there a little earlier this time.

My wheel bearing test is cornering, taking the weight off the one wheel and putting it on the other. If there is a change in sound then odds are it's a wheel bearing. Also jack it up and try to push in and pull out on the top, any movement, probably the bearing. Sorry if this is a repost.

Also could be re diff output bearings but unlikely, I know that's the noise in mine though

7:45-8 at Casey's sounds like a plan. I'll have the wife + CR-V support vehicular and the Quinn'r with me. I'll pack up my cooler and a couple chairs along with my jack and tools.

Just as a non-official show of hands, who's planning to be there?

1. Me
2. Nick
3. Tony
4. Rob
5. Jeffe
6. Scott - assuming install/alignment happens
7. Ed?
8. John? (I can help you set your alarm if you need me to)
9. ????
10. Profit.

Who'd I miss?

I did the push/pull on each wheel the first go-round with the noises without movement but haven't again since the noise came back.

Who all is going to Newton on Sunday? I was thinking about shooting to be there around 9:00 AM. If anyone wants to meet up by the Murphy's USA in Altoona, I'll be there around 8:15/8:30 to get some gas before heading to Newton.

As long as my car behaves at Marshalltown, I'm planning on running at Newton as well. It should be a really fun course since we are running on the infield.

So hey i need some input on what to set my suspension at tonight for autocross this weekend. I had some comments from people at the last autoX i attended but i forget exactly what was suggested. I have Super Street coilovers and 24mm whiteline sway bars front and rear. I have everything on the stiffest setting at the moment. Also there is a Tein front upper strut mount installed. Any suggestions would be helpful, going out to change my oil here soon.

I will be there, Graham is there any way you could bring your stuff to turn off these damn check lights. I figured out with no acc's on the motor I am having the same issues as having a lightened flywheel or light weight crank pulley. And it is even worse now that I do have a light weight crank pulley installed.
