Default iON goes public in Sweden?

Hiya fellas!

I've just installed an iON Performance 4-1 in my euro spec EJ20 turbo (old shape), the said car is sporting a few other goodies:

Link
VF23
HKS FMIC
Walbro pump
Scoobysport exhaust

And a ****eload of road holding stuff.

The first thing I noticed when the header came was the STUNNING quality - I felt it was a shame to hide it under the car even....installing it wasn't too difficult (changed engine and tranny mounts as well for group N specced ones).

Our cars doesn't have the uppipe cat, so it can be removed with the engine still in place.

Firing up the car put a BIG smile on my face - the noise...and the vibrations from the stiffer mounts - I was in heaven.

By that time it was already way late for some serious stick, so I made a couple of WOT runs just to check fuelling.

The sound my car makes around 6-7000 rpm is *amazing*..

Yesterday - just 3 days after installing the header, I went to a trackday - the "local" track (well almost local being a mere 100 miles away) where I am quite familiar with the lines.

I used the long straight for comparison, earlier I'd topped out around 190 kph before the braking point, this time I had around 210...

The difference on full chat is really something, the engine seems to run "happier" (lack of a better word to describe it).

I've had a few low volume noise issues on that track - 20 minutes on and off WOT seems to increase temps a tad.
This time around it was completely silent....

I notched 4 seconds off my personal best as well, with a few laps around the 1.21 mark (a dynoed 500 hp EVO did a 1.19 ) - 1 second off the pace of the fastest Impreza - a mate of mine, completely MAD bugger running soft rally tarmac spec slicks.

I've left the best bit for last - I had HUGE EFFIN flames all day long - sadly none caught on camera.

Wow... That sounds like sweet setup.

Keep us posted if you get on the dyno and compare what you have to before...

Thumbs up

Thanks for the kind words.

I spent the best part of 4 hours installing the header and the mounts, heat wrapped the uppipe as well while the car was cooling down.

Ah yeah...we had a 30 minute dinner break as well.

I have never actually had it on a dyno - weird huh?

One day perhaps....the old butt dyno is happy with the header though.

Oh, almost forgot one thing - THANK YOU JACK!

Cool

SecretAgentMan - no probs Jerry glad you could spank your own personal best by 4 seconds Now time to dial in some more finite tuning on your Link to extract some more power. Just wait till you open up your exhaust turbine inlet to port match w/ that up-pipe You're in for a big big grin on your face

denmark1 - Jerry got the header from us (we're located in Canada actually) The 4-1 system costed Jerry $1399US shipped (w/i-Club discount, shipped via DHL from Canada->Sweden. Price w/o shipping is $1199US). Ceramic coating is optional ($150US option for 1700F+ ceramic coat). Email us for more details : info@ionperformance.com

Jerry, how was your fueling affected ..... I guess that you should be running very near to 100% injector duty cycle (unless you have raised the fuel pressure).

...I'm just back from another trackday...man this is wearing me down.

Skassa>>I did 1,21 laps on Gellerasen in Karlskoga, STCC laps it in 1.07-ish - so I am quite happy with that time.
The fastest cars from the Porsche club does the same track in 1.17.

The header is well worth it - but you will need to have a mappable ecu, and a proper turbo.

The quality is second to none.

Carlos>> I am around the 90 mark with an uprated (Walbro) fuel pump running ~12:1 in row 8 all the way up. I will need to do something later when the temperatures goes down...

Jerry remember this past thread:

280 whp from 1.15 bars of boost? I assume we aren't talking about a major FO turbo either.

13.6...riiighty....with my old personal best of 12.9/106 (g-tech pro) is that like 350 US horsies atw, that was done with a vf24 running 1.2 bar....it's much faster now with a fmic'd 23 running 1.3 bar, and a ceramic paddle clutch.

I *know* I'm just around the 320 mark at the crank, that translates to ~220-230 atw.
My car is capable of a 12.7 on a good day....a very good day.

No offence...but these power statements you guys have here...

/J
Ok now considering you have felt major HP increase, and that the IHI VF23 has a bigger exhaust housing, P20, and that you are runnnig 1.3~1.2 bar on your turbo, which probably translates into times < 12.5' at the 1/4 mile ..... ..... you should be making around 350 whp (hope you have read the email I sent u ).
Just use the conversion

Yeah Carlos, just read that mail - and you're spot on my friend.

I seriously suspect my driving skills / mechanical sympathy would make mid 12's a wee bit of a challenge.

(I can't afford a gearbox rebuild right now )
