Default Swap.. wont start. surprise!

99 OBS 2.2, engine decided it was going to **** the bed @ 155k so now ive got a SOHC ej253 (i believe its a 253) from a 99 RS under my hood.. cranks, ive got good compression and fuel, pretty positive ive got spark.. but the sumbitch wont fire up.. will crank for ever, no slapping or knocking, all the sensors are accounted for, no check engine light..

any ideas?

Pretty positive of a spark? I would make sure you have spark before anything else.

You have got fuel upto the injectors but are the injectors firing?

I would really start from the beginning and check everything methodically, could be the simplest little thing you have missed which is giving you a headache. Then when you start getting frustrated, you can't see the wood for the trees

I think he figured it out and it was the incorrect crank and cam gears.

yep! in order to get this bish running of the ej22e ecu.. you have to swap the cam and crank gears from the 253 and the 22e
