Arrow FS Winged wiper arm

I know there is a classified section, but this is a Legacy specific thing so I thought I'd post here first. I hope you guys don't mind.

When we traded the our 97 OB in I took a few things off that I put on and they wouldn't notice. One of the things was a drivers side wiper arm from a 98 OB limited. It's OEM and has a small spoiler on it like so many of the newer ones. It wasn't available in 97 though. It only cost me like 26 bucks and rather than have it sit around here I though I'd see if anyone is interested in it. I'm asking 10 plus shipping. It should fit any Legacy with the same body style. I'm not sure which models came with them and which ones didn't. The wing helps keep the blade in contact with the windscreen at speed.

Just e-mail me direct or reply to this post.

Don't suppose you know the part number for this, off the top of your head? It's funny, i as just noticing these on some of the RS's at a local gathering last night and was envious I'm sure I can track 'em down, but thought I'd ask right quick...

Well I'll be damned! I didn't know that type of arm had ever been used on the Legacy/Outback. I was just looking at my sister's WRX to see if the wiper arm was the same length as my Legacy's (it isn't) because I want one of those little spoiler things. From what I've heard they really work pretty well, and I definitely could use it - from what I've seen above about 75mph or so the wipers suck.

So, '98 OB Limited should have it, eh, Peaty? I'll have to check with Art, my local parts guy....

I'll be ordering more stuff from Lisa (Sugar in the vendors section) and I'll ask her the PN. I got it from here back in 98 when I saw one on a Legacy OB Limited. It seems only the limiteds got them. Another owner (the one that ended up with the arm) says he has one on his 97 Legacy GT too. The arm for the legacy is longer than the RS one I'm sure because I have both cars. The one on the new OB VDC is a little different the wing is more intergrated into the arm. If I can I'll compare the two and post a pic of the new version.

The problem is it's about an inch longer (I can measure if anyone is really that interested) but everything else looks like it will possibly fit. Here I put the old one at the same mounting point as the new one and you can see what I mean:

Default If they can't find the Legacy one...

The 01 Forester S has the same length wiper arm and comes equipped standard with the driver's wiper wing incorporated.

Seems kinda odd to me that they'd put the high-speed wipers on the Outback and not the GT...

But, yeah, I've been eyeballin' those as well...

The VDC arm looks very similar to the WRX arm on my sister's car. Surprisingly enough, the WRX (and I'm assuming all '02+ Imprezas) has a longer wiper arm than the older Legacys.

Anyway, thanks for the part number, Peaty, I'll have to grab wunna dem from the dealer.

Default am i just dumb?

what's the point of this spoiler on the wiper.
i do actually need new wipers, mine suck.
do they just push the wiper down to the windshield so as to prevent chattering at higher speeds?
cuz i know i drive at high speeds in my GT all the time.
at least 100 mph on the highway at all times.
gotta love the cobra radar detector.
thanks guys.

It's a force multiplier that creates a force field effect around your windows to keep the bugs and bad juju off your car (lol, j/k). It's designed to "push/hold" the wiper against the windshield at speed so it doesn't "lift" and "hop" like some blades will do when the air slip, natural or induced, catches on it.
