Default 2011 Impreza, XM Radio.

Im thinking about buying the XM package for my stereo, its about 299... But how hard is it to install?

Subaru is charging me 200$ to just install it and all you probably have to do is just connect a cable...

I went with the stock radio XM add on in my 08 impreza. I ended up hating everything about in including the BIG ugly antenna stuck on the WS. On my 11 WRX I went with aftermarket HU and added this for XM

Since i was already a subscriber it cost me $9 and it looks fine. Small antenna & hooks to my aftermarket HU thru the AUX jack. Best of all I can easily move it to other cars. I refuse to pay the inflated prices for stock XM.

I installs on a bracket right above the radio in the dash with 2 screws. the dealer will put the antenna inside the car by the windshield if i am not mistaken. I would run it outside the car personally. not a hard job at all, especially if you put the antenna inside like they would. car dealers are not audio guys...

The dealer did my install because it was negotiated in my final price since I as well as the salesman apparently were under the impression the car already had SIRIUS radio. So we finally negotiated on them installing it for free as it was supposed to be.

The antenna is in the upper right hand corner of the passenger side of the windshield and it's hardly noticeable. I can not speak on terms of the install, unfortunately.

Weird I have the 2011 factory satellite radio with navigation and I have no extra antenna. I guess the factory satellite option is totally different?

If you are taking about the factory accessory "kit", yes

Mine is as you are talking about as well. Installed from factory the antenna for sat is built into the am/fm antenna on the roof. One could install the factory antenna this way on the roof and run extension to the afterthought kit rather than put the one on the dash if they wanted to. Or they could use an antenna of their own and put it somewhere besides the dash. I put the wife's inside the little "spoiler" on the top of the hatch on her 2010 IOBS. cant even tell there is anything there and it works flawlessly.

This is connect and go. You'll have to get your audio input thru an AUX jack or over an FM station with this unit. The antenna is a lot smaller than the add on unit for the stock Subaru XM add on. Your antenna wire is a lot longer so you can be creative on where you place the antenna. In my experience I have had FAR better reception with the aftermarket antenna than the Subaru antenna that stuck on the windshield.
I went with the XM Snap- smaller and easier to move to other vehicles. With the one you are looking at you could move it to other cars if you get another base and antenna.
