Default 2002 N/A RS Auto quartermile times...here

ok, well my car is not stock. And it was veyr hot out and none of the 20 + i-club wrxs' and RS did well yesterday. But I am going to post my results for all the other auto- 2k2 rs's.

Well Heres the mods:
Cobb CAI
Cobb N/A Turbo Cams
Stock exaust (cams need something better then stock exaust or they won't show there real power IMO)
whiteline springs
big sway bar
-----------------

2.414 60'
7.017 330
10.799 1/8
64.29 MPH
14.102 1000
16.891 quarter
@81.20 MPH

it was real hot out and everyone said they were about .3 slower then normal.
So this is for all you auto 2k2s out there. So you know that even with cams and intake. Your still high 16s
Question, comments?

I have been working on a year long turbo kit project for the 2002 RS.

It will include management, and everything but the FMIC. As of right now. I am working on the custom FMIC this week. but I don't know if it will turn out cost efficent. But that is for another topic in anouther forum. PM me if you want details. But lets not wander off N/A (don't take offence, but I want the N/A guys to be N/A)

Yeah aprrently the stock exhaust system is quite restrictive as a some what stock car will gain around 14 hp with the MRT system. IF you got the MRT and in conjunction with your cams. It should gain over 20hp and feels pretty darn quick..

nah, they are n/a-turbo cams. They are Mild cams. Not spicy street. They are moderate not spicy. they are called N/A-turbo cams IIRC. Because they will help out both.

True Dr Nick, I have them b/c i wasnt sure what I was doing with my car and thats what they called them. I want to trade my mild ones in for Spicy ones, but it costs the same as buying them new b/c they have to refinish them. I have custom (not cobb) cylinder heads for my car at lachute subaru right now, ill go the the track and post 1/4 times (eventhough we have diff years). Good luck on the future modding!

Default sup

i dunno how to judge if cams are spicy or not. but this is wut i have in my car.

-RALLISPEC Fast Road Cams. (my car decides to go from running to sprinting at 4000rpm)

-Injen Race Division Intake (cold air)

-Apex N1 Cat-Back exhaust (custom piping extended 1 1/2 out of bumper to avoid burning bumper. also put at an angle and apex n1 super silencer is installed.)

-magnecore spark plug wires.

THOSE MODS ARE FOR POWER

for looks i have greddy front lip and STi rear wing.

i havent been able to test my quarter mile times yet. i dunno how much hp i have from the stock 165, but i think i have ATLEAST 185hp. the guy who used to own my car that installed the fast road cams claims that i should be running atleast 15 sec 1/4 miles. im not claiming anything. im trying to hit the drag strip sometime this week. and if i do ill post times.

i ran a 15.8 ONCE.....then consistently 16.2's.....then 16.6...then recently a 17.2 the weather here has been reall hot..<98degrees, 96% humidity at midnight>.....

i have a 2001 RS Auto

stromung muffler
heatshielded filter on the throttle boddy
underdrive pulley
NGK copper sparkplugs

and thats it.......i did those 16.2's on two consecutive nights with decent weather, somewhere in there fell the 15.8 <my brother was driving>....then in SA, i ran a 16.6, i figured because i had a strut bar that was interrupting the airflow to the filter, then the 17.2 no clue...

wow it seems temperature/humidity can really throw off times. Someone posted a 17.5 in the proven power forum with an auto '02 RS (intake only i think).

Anyone have times for the 5 speed '02 ? Would they be radically different?

ok, woops. Sorry guys. I forgot about the new forum for quartermile times. I appologise for posting in the wrong spot.

BTW: an stock 2002 auto RS was tested out by Car and driver IIRC and they ran a 18.2. So Cams, PROecm chip (if it did anything) and Cobb CAI did take some time off.

I went out to the strip for the first time ever a few weeks ago and my best was a 16.0@85.X

My car is an '02 5-speed with: cobb intake, brullen header back exhaust and about 80lbs worth of stereo and a full tank of gas.

It was warm and their was a WRX there that ran a best 14.4 with turbo back exhaust, custom tuned ECU and probably a couple other things... so the weather was obviously not cooperating.

Default forgot

i forgot my unorthodox racing pulleys in my list of mods...if that helps any. haha.

maybe the weather is pretty bad. i have a 5 speed. if u have automatic, u should try launching by holding the brake down with your left foot, and let the rpm go up when u start.

when i race i try to launch at 3500rpm or 4500rpm.

ive raced my brothers 97' nissan 240sx several times already. stock 240sx's run 16sec 1/4 miles, and i beat him by a pretty good distance. several car lengths. ill try posting 1/4 mile times once i get the chance to test.

ah, ok. This is the deal

everyone was putting down horrid numbers. It was hot and IMO humid out.
it didn't help that we "cooled" down for only 30 minutes after an hour at highspeeds.

In an automatic. Heat is the number one enemy.

The car won't shift as quick, the torque converter won't rev to the max. Its just plain bad.

I was able to rev up to 2.2k on that launch. By vacume locking the brakes up.

this is how I do it.
(rev the car in neutral while pressing on the brake. The peddle will slowly sink to the floor. Next let the rpms go low and shift into drive or three. DO NOT neutral drop! Next step is push down on the brake hard and rev the motor to the stall limit. 3-2-1 your off and go!...but remember don't rev to long at stall limit or you will burn the tranny fluid.)

Default Guys...sniffle

Can you send me you 1/4 mile times and be sure to indicate that it's an AUTO ? I'll be sure to put it up in the 1/4 Subaru 1/4 Mile Registry. This way we can all look at each other's car and gauge the performance by contacting each other and asking questions.

It's nothing to be ashamed of. Your times aren't as slow at you think. If you could launch .6 seconds faster or so (1.8 60ft or lower), your 1/4 mile times would change significantly. If the manual trannied guys where launching their cars around 2500rpm or so, they'd get similar results. So, don't mind your 1/4 mile time but use it as a gauge. And send me those times....pretty please??? Thanks!

BTW: An upgraded torque converter would help your car kick arse 1/4 mile time wise or just regular drivability, regardless of whether you are modded or stock.
