Thumbs down DEFI gauges....

I have three Defi gauges. Boost, EGT and Fuel Pressure....the boost works fine, the fuel pressure needle wiggles a little, and the EGT needle wiggles a LOT! What is the deal! I am going to send it back and get a new one and see if it fixes the problem!!!! I really hope so! Anyone else had this same problem? Please enlighten me on how to remedy it!

Defi gauges are very sensitive to having a good ground....Try running the ground wire from the control unit directly to the negative terminal on the battery, and see if that doesn't fix the problem...

I think it is normal.

They are just sensative. Very sensative. Also, they are "stepper motor" type gauges. Thats another reason why they are jerky.

Boost characteristics are much more stable than fuel pressure and EGT.

Fuel pump, doesn't pump constantly. It works like a heart. Pump, pump, pump, pump, pump... Not ppppppppppppppuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmppppppp. Thats why we have a fuel pulse dampner in our fuel sutem. So the niddle is jerkies since it is reflecting true real time fuel pressure.

Same with EGT. Exhaust pulses are very uneven and have diff temps based on what cylinder they come from.

Of course, they do need good ground. That could make them jerk for a different reason.

I don't know if you guys have seen SARD's STACK meter panel. Its the one that replaces the OEM center dash console. On its RPM gauge, the niddle is also jerly. It displays RPM in real time. Not like the stock "mushy" RPM that lags and fogvives engine's behaviour.

Same prob here w/ the EGT. I had it fixed and now it is doing it again. I can tell what the temp is, but all the bouncing around is very annoying. Boost reads perfect, nice and smooth.
