Default ARC international "bankrupt"

Blog NEWS - ARC International Bankrupt

1st March 2011

Tagged
ARC International, the well-known premium Japanese manufacturer, is in bankruptcy. We were notified just a few hours ago, the company is no longer accepting orders and all outstanding orders are cancelled.

The future of the company is currently uncertain. We will keep the website updated as any changes develop but we do not expect any change to the situation in the immediate future.

We are truly saddened by the news and wish ARC the best in the future. Their range of premium quality parts made in Japan will be missed by us all.

What? The only thing ARC is the best at is duping people into believing that rainbow titanium makes their car perform better.

There are plenty of other companies that make equally high quality parts out of equally high quality materials. I know ARC used a lot of titanium, which explains some of their pricing (as titanium is fairly expensive), but many of their parts were simply overpriced.

Either way, they made some nice stuff, and it is sad to see some of the major Japanese tuning companies going under.

PRESS RELEASE

"GReddy looks forward to continuing to provide quality high performance parts for years to come.

IRVINE, CA
OCTOBER 10, 2008

To insure the long term survival of the GReddy brand in the USA, GReddy Performance Products, Inc. has opted to file for Chapter 11, Reorganization, on October 10, 2008.

GReddy sales, customer service, R&D and operation will continue to conduct business as usual, through this process. The flow of inventory and new products will continue and will not be affected. Normal GReddy operating hours will remain as before.

This reorganization change is result of last month's Minji-Saisei-Hou filing of GReddy's parent company TRUST Co. LTD. in Japan. Although TRUST has now returned to production, and GReddy Performance Products has maintained normal business practices, the recent extreme downturn in the world's banking market has made this option the best prospect for continued operation and expansion of the GReddy brand.

It is also in the best interest of GReddy's future to join some of GReddy's competitors in the industry, in not exhibiting in this years SEMA Show. The withdraw is regretful, but necessary. This does not however mean development and construction of new products and demo vehicles which were planned to debut at SEMA will stop. Instead, GReddy plans on releasing news of these items through other media outlets very soon.

GReddy Performance Products, Inc. and it's staff would like to thank all the kind well-wisher, customers and industry associates for their support in these challenging times. GReddy looks forward to continuing to provide quality high performance parts for years to come."

They make quality parts but the market for +$700 intake boxes and intercooler pipes probably isn't large enough to sustain a large business. I don't understand why companies like this can't introduce 2 tiers of products. The titanium stuff for the ballers and equivalent versions of the parts in regular stainless steel or aluminum.

For example that intercooler in the OP for the EVO X is an $1800 piece. Why would anyone purchase that when AMS makes a proven (power gains and reliability) intercooler for <$700?

Yeah and with Zerosports going bankrupt recently too !

The word from Japan is that Zero Sports is now bankrupt.

That just adds to the already bad news that Abbey Road Company (ARC) recently went bankrupt.

These two companies both brought a lot of excitement and passion to the movement over the years. Support the innovators.
I think post above mine hits the nail on the head. Especially because we're in down economy no room for 'disposable income' parts... Although I don't think AMS is really the competition, it's more-so the Bayson-R's and Rota's / stuff like that which are the bad-economy replacements.

It's been a horrible past 5 years for sport compact lovers. So many of our great innovators are going under, along with so many of our great magazines. It's sad to see.

I loved the ARC carbon hood vent on my '04 STi. Sad to see another luxury brand not survive this economy.
