Default SA: Where can I get my taillights done?!

Anyone know of a good place that would either install overlays or paint my taillights? I called the two top-rated tint shops per Google search and they said they would not do it. I am considering doing them myself, i've had the IAG overlays sitting in my house for like 2 months haha.

Sounds like a simple job you and some friends should tackle over a bottle of whiskey/ case of beer! It's really not all that bad. I'll be doing my headlights soon! Good luck

I recommend NOT doing the pre-cut stuff. Find a shop (like Underground in Houston) that carries the Oracal 8300 transparent vinyl. Use it raw (not pre-cut) to "wrap" the lenses, use a heat gun and a soft felt squeegee, then trim off excess. Results will look OEM compared to the gaps that the pre-cut films leave. ...Just my 2 cents, ....and i've been doing this a loooong time.

SOOOOO I had the IAG ones that were not pre cut and require you to cut excess... Complete failure, got creases in it from I dont even know how.... so in the trash it went. And the squeegee left scrapes all over the film. 70 bucks in trash.... Looks ill be painting....

I prep them with 1000 grit paper and a grey scotchbrite. Spray plastic adhesion promoter on them then use a black candy in ppg clear base binder then clear them can't tell its not factory

If you buy another set of overlays take them to Ryan at Traffic-Graffics, its behind the airport down the street from Blossom. (ill have to find his cell # for you) He runs a small vinyl business on the side in addition to working there.

Dont go to a tint shop as most will do a horrible job when it comes to surfaces with curves and they also dont like to use other peoples products. But then again thats the case with most shops.

And that's why you pay a professional to do it.

Before you paint I would look into that new law about tinting taillights. I know nothing about it but I've had Several people (including a few licensed state inspectors) tell me that I'm about to have to remove the tint off my legacy because there was a law passed that said you can not pass inspection with tint on your taillights.
Would hate to see you have to buy new taillights later on.
Good luck

Ps. I paid Underground Graphics to tint my taillights 3 years ago and they still look amazing. I work at a shop, vinyl our racecars and know my way around a detail kit but I still would never try this on my own. GL

Painting them went awesome, looks great for my first time. Way easier than when I did my headlights.
