Default Anyone had thier frenum clipped (as an adult)?

Going in Wednesday to have mine clipped, as it's starting to pull the gums away from my lower teeth, putting them in jeopardy. Was told that once it's clipped my tongue will have a much greater range of motion (cannot stick tongue out past lips) and might have a slight speech impediment for a while until I get used to my tongue again.

And yes, Mrs. BlueB3 is very much looking forward to this!

I wasn't aware you could do this as an adult. I'm very tongue-tied and would be interested in hearing how much this costs and what the recovery time is, etc.

One of the main reasons I don't enjoy munching rug. When I do, that damned piece of skin gets grated between my two middle lower teeth and ends up rubbed raw. Hurts like a mofo.

I had my upper one cut, it was keeping my front teeth from going together. I've been told I am a good kisser and I reply "no frenum baby, no frenum.

Well, it's done @ the dentists office, and can be done by an oral surgeon or periodontist. Mine has to be done by a periodontist as she's grafting gum tissue back down there to cover the area that's been pulled back. Insurance is covering ~60% of it I believe? So like $140 out of pocket (or less, I'll update pricing after Wednesday)

Would have had it done at the oral surgeons 2 weeks ago, but he was worried about an infection setting in since I was having an extraction at the time (I have British teeth)

I wasn't aware that this was done to adults. I had it fixed when I was a toddler because of the speech issues it was sure to cause. Why the long wait?

I had it done as a kid. One quick zip with a laser and it was done. Seriously nothing to write home about. I don't see why it would be any different as an adult.

I never had any issues with it until recently. The only thing I notice is that I can't talk super fast or I start stumbling over my words. The running joke is that English is not my first language.

My co-workers can't wait to hear me stumble-talk come Thursday.

Just got off the phone with the dentist office, it's $160 out of pocket, since the indurance covers 60% of it.

Came through just fine, she used a scalpel, not a laser and only took about 10 minutes once numbed up. Have 3 stitches and the underside of my tongue is sore, weirdest place to have pain! But I can now stick my tongue out past my lips!
