So I'm trying to piece together everything I need for my GC swap project I have going on right now. The biggest thing I have been trying to cross off the list is a low mileage EJ205. I have found one locally with 51k on it. It includes wiring harness, ecu, and all the accesories.
So.... 1.) They are asking 2,500. Does this seem fair? 2.) The motor is from an 04 AUTO wrx. Do you think it being an auto will cause me headaches when I bolt it up to my impreza L 5mt? Let me know what you guys think.

The engine, being from an auto wrx or a 5sped is the same.. When you go to take off the auto transmission check under/near the passenger side intake manifold, there will be a rubber plug take that off and turn the engine over with a wrench and socket clockwise.. till you see some bolts.
Take them off and the torque converter will be free from the flexplate. once you have the engine apart unbolt the flexplate. and bolt up your flywheel. the block will bolt up to your 5speed no problem. make sure you put the clutch release bearing on the trans before you put the two together ![]() |

oh and the price is not bad but... You can find a wrx longblock for cheaper though.
wiring the engine is a whole other story if you don't already have the full turbo harness. |

The engine comes already seperated from the transmission, but I appreciate the detailed instructions. It includes all the accessories and complete engine wiring harness. However the sale does not include an ECU. So the next logical question.
Will any 02-04 ECU work with this motor? Does auto/manual make the ECU any different? |
